My mom tried to use the scotch brite coupon yesterday at Walmart. We were at the self check out. When we scanned the coupon the register would beep like it took the coupon but the screen would not update that it took the money off. The cashier came over to assist us. First she said that Walmart no longer takes internet coupons. I said according to your coupon policy printed March 19th, you do take them. She compared her policy with mine. Her policy was as of March 16th. Then I started to read to her from the policy. When I came to the part that said, “the internet coupon must have a scanable bar code”, that is when she got hung up. She interpreted it as the coupon won’t scan so it is not valid. I interpret that as there has to be a bar code on the coupon that can be scanned. Then as we got further into the conversation she started making up other excuses. She looked at my mom’s Revlon coupon and said it wouldn’t scan because the lines on the bar code were too close together. lol That is funny. I made a transaction before my mom with 2 Revlon coupons. There was not a problem with them. I really think that the register was lagging behind or it was due to some other technical issue as to why the coupon wasn’t being deducted. My mom ended up walking out with nothing. In hines sight we should have tried another register. Anything like this happen to anyone?
When we use the self check out our coupons always beep but, the attending cashier always pushes them through. We now have started going through a ck out lane with a cashier when using coupons to avoid the beeping and to keep from holding up the line.
I was just about to ask if the Scotch Brite coupon was usable since it’s in PDF format. Is it legal? Seems like that would fall along the lines of copying. I’m new so I hope I’m not asking a stupid question. Thanks!
You will often times see fraudulent coupons in PDF form. (Since that’s the easiest way to distribute them) To make sure a coupon is a real coupon from the manufacturer, make sure to look at the domain it is coming from. For instance, if you hove your mouse over the Scotch Brite coupon, you’ll see it’s from the http://3m.com website, and 3M owns Scotch Brite. If the PDF is hosted somewhere like photobucket, I would stay clear. HTH!
And thanks Paul, for posting! ::)
I had the same problem using the printed coupons. My store took them this time bu told me they aren’t taking them currently? They told me the reason was because they didn’t know if they were copied or not and couldn’t make sure they were real. They were actually very rude about it. I normally don’t go to Walmart because they don’t take a lot of coupons and they give me a hard time. Is it like this for everyone??
How was her total that little? I know the Gain has overage but not enough to cover everything (like the Hillshire farm for $2).
She’s bought 5 Gains. The limit is four coupons per visit though. I used them today to buy some baby clothes.
