EXCITING UPDATE!!
Walmart just announced that their Shipping Pass program is FREE and as of today and they will be refunding any subscription fees!
Here’s how the new Free 2-Day Shipping works:
- Free 2-Day Shipping will be available on eligible orders over $35.
- Millions of items on Walmart.com are eligible for Free 2-Day Shipping including household essentials such as pantry items, cleaning supplies and baby necessities, top electronics and toys.
- Eligible items will be noted with a 2-day shipping logo.
It should be noted that this does have a price limit – but it’s less than Amazon’s super-saver shipping threshold, so that’s nice.
Walmart just unveiled a new way to save on shipping for all your Walmart.com purchases – it’s called the Walmart Shippingpass. Let’s look at what it is, what it costs and Walmart Shippingpass vs. Amazon Prime.
Okay so here’s what it is:
For $49 a year, customers get FREE 2-Day shipping on anything you purchase from Walmart.com. No minimum order requirements!
It’s pretty basic. It’s not too fancy – there’s no music streaming or Kindle lender’s library or anything – but it’ll save you a lot of money if you regularly order off Walmart.com.
Okay – so let’s see how the two services stack up!
Walmart ShippingPass vs. Amazon Prime
The Cost
Moneywise – $49 a year is cheaper than $99 for a free shipping service. That’s $4.08/month vs. $8.25/month. Less than HALF.
But if you have to choose one – which retailer do you want to be tied to for a year?
Amazon and Walmart have very competitive prices – sometimes Amazon is a little cheaper and sometimes Walmart.com is, but it seems to generally balance out in the long run depending on what you buy. I’d have to say though, that Walmart.com is perhaps more consistently low on a wider range of products.
The Benefits
Amazon Prime undoubtedly offers up a larger benefit package for their $99/year price. With Prime – members get not only the 2-Day Free Shipping but also:
– Free Music Streaming
– Free Television and Movie Streaming
– Free Kindle Books each month
– Free Unlimited Photo Storage
– Discounted baby supplies
