Walmart is making it even easier to make sure you get the best possible prices this Holiday Season. There really is no reason to shop anywhere else. Walmart has announced that even if you have already purchased an item and then you find it at a lower price, you will get the difference in the form of a Walmart Gift Card. It sounds too good to be true. At the risk of sounding like the late Billy Mayz, “Wait, that’s not all”, they are even going to honor this on Layaway purchases. Below is the article from AP.
Here are the rules: Link To Walmart Site and Details
1. Purchases must be Make from Nov 1- Dec 25th
2. You must bring in the competitor ad AND your receipt to receive the Price Match Difference
3. Black Friday and Internet Prices are Excluded
4.Items on Layaway are Eligible
In addition to this great incentive to shop at Walamrt here are a couple other incentives that were announced! via CNN Money
Wal-Mart has also announced a number of other shopping incentives this season including layaway on purchases over $15, free shipping on most Walmart.com products, no interest on Wal-Mart credit card purchases if they are paid for in full within six months, and a 10-cent discount on each gallon of gas bought at participating Murphy USA or Wal-Mart stations.
Wal-Mart ups ante in holiday price matching
By ANNE D’INNOCENZIO – AP Retail Writer | AP – 6 hrs agoNEW YORK (AP) — Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world’s largest retailer, is announcing a new holiday price-matching strategy that aims to pull in procrastinators early by giving them a big incentive: a guarantee they’ll get the lowest prices no matter when they buy during the season.
The Bentonville, Ark., discounter said Monday it will be matching prices on all its products — even after purchases are made. Shoppers who bought a product — whether on its website or in its stores — from Nov. 1 to Dec. 25 but then find the identical product for less at another rival later will receive a gift card for the price difference.
The price guarantee comes as Wal-Mart aims to solidify its position as the low-price leader and should raise the stakes for the holiday 2011 season.
Does the ad that you are quote “price-matching” have to be valid for that week…so basically can’t use an expired sale ad?
Not trying to be ugly, but I am laughing so hard. I can only imagine the horror it will be to try and get my Walmart to do this. Even if I show them the policies, match, coupon whatever they make me fight tooth and nail over anything. I can just imagine the look on any given CSR’s face when I ask them to do this. LOL!
I agree Ronni Beth!!! My Walmart gives me so much flack, I’d rather pay more as fool with them!!
Ronni Beth you are so right! My Walmart would go absolutely bonkers if I tried this! Just today I was price matching some chips there and the pkg was one ounce off and they would not match the price! Ridiculous!
I know it seems rediculous but in a lot of cases, especially on chips 1oz is a 10% difference or more.
I agree!!
I also agree with Ronnie Beth, I venture into Walmart every blue moon, just to be reminded at checkout that they are almost intolerable to deal with. I really wish they would take more time to educate their cashiers, it would make check out easier.
Do people generally NOT KNOW that if within a return period the price goes lower or you find it cheaper elsewhere the place you bought it from would already refund you the difference??
I guess the gift card part is new, and only making it “known” for the holiday season would put some incentive to people who don’t know this.. but I just think it’s funny that they actually wanted to “announce” it to everyone, when it’s already a rule.
the CNN link says that walmart is applying this to all purchases between Nov 1 to DEC 25 so that means any ads can be price matched during this timeframe correct?
Any ads in the competitve market area. No online price matching.
I think it means that even if I bought a TV for $600 on November 15 and find that same TV on sale at Target on December 12 for $500, they would match that price via a Gift Card.
This isn’t “Standard” price matching. It’s different.
@Amy…..I AGREE i think that this is what is making this deal so *HOT*….this also makes it easier for people who are too busy to shop around to get a good deal :)….i am excited bc that way i can make one big purchase on NOV 1 and then periodically stalk the ads and go in on say Dec 24 and get all my refunds on 1 giftcard …..really good DEAL
Sounds like a great plan…. I may do the same. Thanks…. Just make sure the ads that you bring in aren’t expired. Their Christmas Price Match policy excludes expired ads.
I think this is awesome! I guess I have a really good Walmart, they have alwasy been pleasant, and I’ve never actually had any issues. I’m not completely sold on their layaway program, only due to the restrictions of the $15 items and only select items; electronics, games, etc. I think I will be sticking to another store’s layaway due to the fact that I can do my whole layaway order online…
Is there a place that you can pay for your layway online?? This small town girl is interested!:)
I was told they were gone to do this but they were gone to stop doubling coupons at the first of Nov because they say it would be stressfull on the christmas shoppers and cashers.
The two are not related. I don’t kow what they are doing with dobling. Their current metod is very taxing, but if implemented nationwide it would be a much smoother and easier process.
I heard that on Black Friday they will price match competitor sales for the same day or time frame. But I’ve also heard they won’t. Does anyone know about this? Or can anyone provide some more information?
Walmart has always price matched for me on previous Black Fridays. I really hope they don’t stop that! It’s saved me a lot of frustration and time in the past.
i price matched on black friday last year with no problems. 🙂
now does this new price matching apply only to big ticket items like tv’s, toys, electronics ect or can we use the method on household items or food as well?
Paul- So if I shop black Friday, will they price match my ads from that day. Like target has a tv on sale on black friday and walmart has the same TV. I am in walmart on black friday, can I price match to get the same tv for a different price on the same day?
Does that make sense??!! LOL I did it last year, but in their ad it sounds like the price matching does not apply to black friday.
The Christmas Price Guarantee is not applicable on Black Friday. You can not use Black Friday Ads for the Price Guarantee to get a refund via Gift Card. That is a separate policy from the Ad Match Guarantee. Ad Match refers to matching a competitors advertised price on the exact same item at the time of purchase at the register. There are no Holiday restrictions at this time on the Ad Match Guarantee Program. So as long as you find the same exact item in a competitor’s ad on Black Friday there shouldn’t be an issue of getting it for the competitor’s price. I’d suggest bringing the ad along just to make sure you have no issues even though technically its not required, but that day will be so crazy it’d be a good idea to leave no doubt in there mind when you tell them that you want to Ad Match.
you guys are lucky, i have tried the last to black fridays to price match..my store would not..im going to try again this yr..who knows maybe ill get lucky
It says bring in the ad and reciept. What if its an item that I onclearance at one stofe but not advertised? Could you still get the price match? So if I bought this clearance item on the firdt and they are selling it for more at walmart I can get the difference?
no, it must be an advertised sale to be price matched.
So does this mean you ALSO don’t have to fight Black Friday shopping, just make sure you have the ad you want (even the Wal-Mart ad) and they will match it another day? That would be nice if that would work as well….
Question…it says from Nov 1. I placed Ipods on layaway before Nov 1st, so would this work for when I get them out of layaway or will they go by when I put them on layaway??
What if I put an item on lay away today then went in on black Friday and paid it off but price matched it to another ad for their price…would that work?
