I finally spoke with store management at one of the WV Walmarts that are part of the pilot program. Below is a list of guidelines, please keep in mind this all via verbal communication, I have no written documentation to support this.
Folks, this is better than we could have imagined.
1. They are doubling all MFG (ONLY) coupons up to $.99. That means $.75 is worth $1.50.
2. They are price matching and using double coupons in WV
3. You must present each coupon with the item you are buying as they are doubling manually and must adjust the individual item, they cannot adjust the total.
4. Limits are as stated on the coupon (no limit stated means no limit)
5. Are you freaking kidding me, what else do you want?!?!
I am still working on trying to get a list of participating locations and if there are any differences between stores or if the policy is standard for all Walmarts that are part of the pilot program.
Walmarts that are doubling, this info is via – readers, so call ahead before you go just to make sure they are and which days.
Madison, Ohio
Charleston, West Virginia
Utah County, Utah ( 7 Walmarts are doubling)
Huntington, West Virginia
Wayne, West Virginia
Findlay, Ohio
** From what readers have said it is very time consuming to check out. It think that if everyone is very patient and understanding that it will be a successful trial and hopefully Walmart will expand to more locations.
Thanks to Reader Craig for the Information!
WOW .. we really couldn’t ask for me! but what do you mean by “WV”?
THANK YOU!
WV = West Virginia
It’s right by East Virginia.
hahaha love it 😉
It’s actually not by “east Virginia” at all. There is a whole western part of Virginia that is between the two.
Seriously!?
So hope my WallyWorld is one that is participating!!!
I was informed by a clerk at Nitro Walmart that it was coming during my last trip. I’m gearing up to go now!
I sure hope they make this a national program! I know someone in Walmart corporate; I’ll see what I can find out from him and pass along any information!
WV is West Virginia
Wish it could have been Virginia!!
west virginia is close, it might be worth the drive:-)
Are you saying WV is the only state doing this program? (come on Texas!)
I asked my local Walmart in Texas about the doubling of coupons, and they looked at me like I was insane. So, I called 1-800-WALMART and they said they knew nothing of it either? So glad this was posted today, thought I was losing my mind!!
Texas doesn’t allow doubling of coupons. I don’t know why…
Sure they do, I do it every week at Randalls!
I can double at Kroger,Albertsons and Tom thumb
They are making the coupon doubling as irritating as it can be though. Doing it manually AND right after each item. This could be a great thing for WalMart if they’d take care of that. I price match and use coupons and I hold the line up as it is! I could imagine how bad it’d be with this! I sure hope they fix the kinks and make it permanent!
it is a pilot program, the computers are not programmed to do it. It is well worth the wait. be organized and it will go much smoother.
Even though it is a pilot program, they are waisting too many resources on the manual process. All they needed to do was to load the new coupon doubling program into the register download, transmit it to all of the stores with the regular updates, then give access codes ONLY to the managers of the participating stores. This would leave out the HUMAN error factor and improve their BOTTOM LINE that they seem to be so worried about these days!
Patience, Katrina:) I live in Virginia (sooooo close but yet so far from WV) and I’d stand in line and have my coupons lined up with them items ALL DAY LONG! I know really well what I’ve got in my cart and what coupons I’m using, so it shouldn’t be that big a deal.
Hoping VIRGINIA follows suit soon! Come on, Walmart…feel the love in Virginia, please!
Oops…meant to type ‘THE’ items. Yikes!
I live about 3 miles from the Madison, OH Wal-Mart. Love the double coupons, hate the wait. Because it must be done manually it can literally take an hour+ to cash out a handful of coupons (and I mean 30-40) and your groceries. However, the overage is allowed! My last trip was 40 items, 40 coupons, and $25 in my pocket! Took about 30 minutes to cash me out but I got paid to buy things I needed 🙂

In the old days before cash registers got so fancy and scanners were used couponers were take a roll of scotch tape to the store with them. As they put the item in the cart, they would tape the coupon to the top of the box, can etc.
That’s a great suggestion, Kecia! With all the magic tape deals going on right now I may have to start doing that!!!
I read an article online, they are also doing this in Utah county, in 7 walmart stores. i think it was sltrib.com, in the money section.
that has been for a while. this is expanded and from what I can tell even better than what they are doing in Utah.
I read an article about the Utah stores and it said they doubled up to $.99 only. For example a $.40 coupon would double up to $.80 but a $.75 coupon would only double up to $.99. Maybe it just depends on what state.
Jane I am a cashier with Walmart in one of the test stores and a $.75 coupon would double to $1.50!!
I am tickled with this. Wonder if they will give overage with the double coupon.
Awesome, I am hoping part of the trial is in Arkansas where I live since, that is where Wal Mart started!! This will be great if it goes national, can go back to my one stop shopping!!
Me too!!
OMG Please please please let this come to our Texas Walmarts!!!! I can’t wait!
i was on the phone with walmart customer relations through 1800walmart trying to see if they knew if any az stores were going to part of the pilot program and they have no clue what i am talking about….so this may be in the works but not for a while because no one has a clue about it…not even a marketing director…i hope it happens though becaue it would be oh so wonderful!!!!!!!!!!
Arizona getting this?
How freaking exciting is that!!!
*holding back cuz I just KNOW it won’t be in Indiana* o.O
I can only hope it gets to Florida soon since all the other stores are going to opposite direction (in my area) & making it harder on those who coupon. 🙁
I would be a LOYAL Walmart shopper if this happens! *hope it doesnt affect their prices*
Saturday when I was at Walmart which was out of town for me they did this with the coupons and each item. I kept wondering why the lady was looking for every item and then entering the coupon and taking SOOO long? None of my coupons would have doubled as they were all $1.00 or more, but I’m going to call and see if they are one of the stores double tomorrow just for curiosity sake. We are in Indiana and that was the Muncie store.
Oh I pray that indiana or north western kentucky gets this at their walmart. I’m in corydon, In and drive 20 mins to kroger just for the doubles/store shopper card. It would be sooo nice!!
Is there a limit on the number they will double?
The 2 Parkersburg, WV stores are now accepting 6 coupons per product per transaction. So all that you need to do is to organize multiple transactions. This is being done to DISCOURAGE those “extreme” couponers who clear the shelves of all product every time they shop. Mainly for the woman who bought 300 bottles of Wisk detergent when they were on sale several weeks back.
I just checked at my Walmart and they are not doing it:(
I sure hope my store is one of them. We have no stores in our town that double. COME ON INDIANA!!! : )
Where in Indiana are you? I’m in Kokomo and pretty much all our stores double to 50 cents except for Walmart and Target (and Kmart but I really don’t shop there).
Still, here’s hoping the Walmart goes national on this soon! How could such a great pilot program fail???
I meant grocery type stores, obviously Walgreens and CVS don’t….
you are so lucky none of the stores in my town double the closest one is kroger and that is 40 min away. to far just to grocery shop. I already get looks from some cashiers when I do the price compare thing, I cant wait to see the looks when I tell them I want to double my coupons too lol
I’m in Kokomo too. If our walmart starts doubling I might actually be tempted to go back in there more often!!
I wonder if corporate has thought of doing designated lines for coupon users like they do for 20 items or less. This way they wouldn’t tick off the other customers that get behind a “couponer” and they would have to train a limited amount of cashiers (hopefully the fast ones) to learn the new rules. Just a thought if anyone has a contact at corporate. If I didn’t coupon, was in a hurry, and I got behind myself, I would be VERY frustrated. : )
I do not know if that would be a good idea Kim. The reason for the 20 items or less would be so that people can get in and out. I f there was a register for only coupons it would probably be backed up to electronics. As for people getting ticked off at a couponer, it would not take as long if the cashier was better informed about the coupon policy.
Coupons make up a big part of a stores income, so one would think the managers would train them properly.
Coupons have been around for quite a few years. When my mom was young, ( present she is 61), you could trade them in for money. She grew up poor so her and her sister would go to doctors offices and take coupons out of magazines then take them to the store to trade them in for money ( I am not sure if this was legal, lol), but my point is couponers have been around for a long time and employees should be aware of the policies:)
i live in wv and they do have coupon lines. you can go through if you are price matching and doubling coupon
The 2 Parkersburg, WV stores that are participating have TWO designated coupon checkouts. Because of this, it usually takes 30 – 45 minutes to move up to the next spot in line. If they are not busy in another lane, they do not mind if you use it. The worst time to go there with coupons is near midnight, when they do their computer changeover. I got into line at 10:45pm (in the only coupon lane open, mind you). Then waited WITHOUT moving until 11:45pm. Since my coupons expired THAT DAY, I went to another line, where they were happy to help me.
So is WV the only state participating in this? I’m kinda confused :s
Do u think they will start in Virginia Beach?
I think they could diminish the frustration of long waits when we price match and coupon (hopefully soon it will be dbl coupon for my stores) by opening more than 4 regular (non express) lanes at the Super Walmarts in my area. Whats the point of having 20 something registers!
Do you know about CALI yet??? 🙂
I’m hoping Colorado does this. I’m keeping my fingers crossed
I will say, I have stopped shopping at Wal-Mart just because it generally becomes a hassle for me & it irritates me with price comparison, but, if they did double coupons, that would be the ONLY place I would shop!! If we all started to write e-mails to Wal-Mart hopefully they’ll expand to more than just a few stores!!
I’m in Findlay, OH and contacted both of our Walmart stores. Both say they do not double coupons as of today. The one said they have been getting calls about it all day, so they contacted corporate and they were told they are not doubling at this time.
Just got off the phone with CS. Sounds like Walmart hasn’t sent the memo out to everyone yet. The CS told me those managers chose double coupons at their stores and there is no pilot program at WM for doubling coupons. Interesting. Here’s to hoping WM sends a memo to the stores that are participating 🙂
Tracy, it isn’t all walmarts, well not yet anyway.
You had Findlay on the list of stores, that’s why I checked. Thanks!
Hmmm… no pilot program then? Sounds like it’s manager’s discretion only, as they would be eating the cost of the double at store level. Bummer for us!
Thanks Paul for all your hard work on getting double coupons into Walmart! Let’s just hope that the trial goes well and it becomes a perminent deal. Any ideal how long this trial will last?
I heard the same thing from Findlay’s Walmart’s… Double coupons a no go…
Ripley WV, Parkersburg WV and Vienna WV are also doing doubles to .99.
The one in South Parkersburg is awsome the cashiers know what they are doing and have been trained well with the doubling…heard the one in Ripley is doing well also!! The one in Vienna is still struggling a bit with it.
I live in Wayne, WV. It’s worth the wait. Even if I save $5, to stand in line and wait a lil’ is nothing to me. I try not to be in such a rush, if I do I always get in the line where there’s some kind of problem. Hope Walmarts all over do this! I love saving even a lil’! 🙂
I am in Boyd Co Ky….I will be driving those few extra miles across the river to double @ walmarts in Huntington….:)
I live in Louisa, but I’m driving out to Wayne tomorrow for the doubles. It’s worth the 20 minute drive. 🙂
None of the stores in NH 🙁
Hot Dog! Come on Oklahoma!Whoot Whoot!
My Walmart in Wilton, NY said they will double coupons today when I asked (and I doubled one!) The CSM said something to the affect of that it’s not normally their policy but they will do it if a customer asks…..okay! I got the impression this may not be part of a pilot program but maybe due to the fact that our Price Chopper across the street just stated doubling coupons…I may be wrong though – either way, great news!
the walmarts in utah only do it on tues though not everyday
I live in Idaho and our Walmart has been accepting competitor’s couopons for some time now and have included the Albertsons Twice the Value coupons as well. They double everything up to $1, so a $1 coupon gets you $2 off. After probably a year or so of doubling the coupons, they still have to manually override the price of each item for which a double coupon is being used. Yes, it slows things down, but if you put your coupon with the item as you take it out of your cart, it does go relatively smooth. If I have a lot of them, I will always tell anyone who comes behind me that I have a lot of coupons and that it will be a while, so that they can make an informed decision about whether to stay in that line or not. Overall, its a good program, but they do really need to find a better way to deal with the doubling.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring double coupons to SIKESTON MISSOURI:-) We want to be a pilot store:-)
Totally agree! I chase deals all over Cape. It would be nice to stop in Sikeston.
What about New Jersey? Anyone have any news… Come on Jersey!!! I NEED ALL the help I can get!
Oh please double in Florida, I am getting so tired of the hostility from Publix over couponing! I used to be a loyal Walmart shopper and then started couponing so i switched over to Publix but if my Walmart starts this – goodbye Publix and hello darling- i’ll be a loyal Walmart shopper again!
Paul: Any idea how long this will be a trial run? Maybe you already posted and I missed it. Also, any idea what the deal breaker is supposed to be? In which I mean what decides whether they add it to all stores or ditch it.
I live in fostoria Ohio 23 miles away from Walmart. And there is 2walmarts in findlay Ohio I wonder which one is doubling up to. 99…. it would be awesome. If do in rossford Ohio walmart too.
I called both WM’s in Findlay and neither is doing doubles as of now. I keep checking. You can keep up to date on Findlay info. on my facebook page , moneysavingmission!
Thank you Tracy, That be great to know when they are doing it . I will add you today. Sue
I hope this gets to S. Cal I highly doubt it though.
They are also Doubling Coupons in Mason WV. 🙂 it right across the bridge for me.
Lets go Georgia stores. I am ready when they start here. I need this.
They are also doubling coupons in Barboursville, Wv!!
Heading there tonight! Glad to see someone local on here!
Just wondering how long the stores in WV (Huntington/Barboursville) are doubling? I would love to go but I live in Ohio & can’t make it up there until the weekend.
I’m not sure, but I think it will be longer than that
They REALLY should have used the Highlands-Triadelphia (Wheeling) WV store as one of their pilot stores….
because Management there is AWESOME, the Cashiers there are AWESOME and I just know they would have found a way to make the process work smoothly for everyone.
I hope it expands because with Kroger now limiting, and ONLY doubling to $.50 on the first 3 coupons…WalMart will have me for LIFE with doubles 🙂
That must be with certain krogers only, because my krogers here in southern indiana doesnt have any limits or restrictions on coupons at all. And I’ve even noticed a couple times that some of my coupons that say DND on them, the computer has!! So idk.
I would love for Wal mart to do this nationwide although my small town wal mart is so coupon unfriendly that they often don’t follow the cooperate coupon plicy.
i am in grafton wv I used Q’s there yesterday no double yet.I’ll have to call ask them.
Parkersburg, Vienna, and Ripley Walmarts in WV (West Virginia 😉 ) are all participating as well 🙂
I noticed that our walmart has been going up on price on a few things. Maybe its beacuse they are getting ready to double! The soy sauce was a 1.44 and now it is 1.74 and that happened within the last couple of weeks. There was something else that went up I just cant remember what it was! I really hope they do start to double here in my town. I really dont like to get alot of things from there because of the hassle I have to go through but Ill go thru it if they double!!
i called my walmart grafton wv didnt get any memos yet
I called the corporate office and they said there is no list available of the participating location and that it was left on an individual store basis on whether they participate or not – so they have no clue.
So I started calling stores this is what I found out after calling 10 locations – I finally got a manager that seemed to know something about it and he said that the only Wal-Mart’s that are doing it are the Wal-Mart’s in areas that have double coupons. And they are doing it to be completive – so with that said since no stores here double here in Houston, between the price matching and coupons they are already completive enough.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I just called both Walmart’s in Findlay, Ohio and was informed they are not doubling. I spoke to some one at the service desk/customer service. Now, hopefully they are wrong, but as of now, no doubling here 🙁 Maybe some day though. If anyone hears anything different, please let me know. Thanks.
I’m super jealous…..
I sure hope the testing goes well & they take it nationwide! I’m sure there’s no other way we’ll get to double or round up coupons here in San Antonio. Neither of our other two grocery stores in this city do it (Super Target or H-E-B), so we’re not exactly a prime candidate for a pilot program. Go for it, Wal-Mart!
Oh please, please, please come to Concord, NC and double coupons with face value of up to $.99!!!! I would definitely be a more loyal Wal-Mart shopper. 🙂
Well how about here in Northern California? Hoping they pass it on here.. crossing my fingers=)
when i worked at goodsons .. in welch wv.. we douled coupons every tues. and wed. all by hand.. and yes it takes a long time.. but blesses the families… but you have to watch about that scotch tape. dont mess up your coupons… the bible says .. patience is a virtue… use it sometimes..
Parkersburg West Virginia WM’s are doubling coupons up to 99 cents, no limit. They are also price matching Target (the closet one is 1.5 hrs away lol),
price matching a BOGO sale – even if there isn’t a sale price listed,
taking 2 coupons for a BOGO sale,
will NOT give you overage on a doubled coupon (only on a coupon $1.00 or more)
Are pre-ordering and giving you the PM amount, even if it comes in after the sale is over
AND THE BIGGIE……they have designated COUPON FRIENDLY registers!!!
You do have to lay out the coupons with each item and PM item, they are reducing the price of each item by the coupon amount as they scan, then taking off the coupon again.
I’ve seen posts of some major hauls people in this area have made this week. This area has so few stores, I have noticed in the last 2 years that Krogers has been super busy (double up to 50 cents) and WM has really seen a decline. Besides one small local chain, these are the only shopping options here, so I’m guessing WM will have to see an increase in business with the new policy and have my fingers crossed that it will stay beyond the 3 month trial period (that time frame is a rumor so far).
it’s a nightmare — had a .35 off of tea — tea was scanned 13 times in the attempt to scan, take coupon, void first scan and insert item at price minus coupon again. I was double charged on several items. The entire trip had three of four items that I was charged for more than once to a total of over $20.00 more than it should have been and I had less than 20 items to begin with. I had somewhere I had to be and since it took me 40 minutes to check out I didn’t have time to go to the service desk and had it returned and re-entered there like the person next to me had to do. This would be wonderful, if it had been properly planned for within their system. We were told in Hurricane,
WV (that would be north of Richmond) that 0.75 would double to 1.00.
Hey Paul – Findlay Ohio is my hometown…so I posted on a coupon site back home….they called the Findlay Wal-Marts…adn they knew nothing about it….just an FYI!
I have been to my local WM (Charleston, WV) twice since the doubling started on Saturday. While I have made some awesome purchases, I must say it is quite time consuming in the check out line. It really shouldn’t take an hour per person! I was very patient the first trip and was mostly patient the next trip. My WM will double a 75 cent Q to $1.50. They said they would double up to a 99 cent Q to make it $1.98 but I haven’t had any of those yet! A doubled coupon amount that was over the cost of the item had the amount applied to the final price. For example, I purchased toothpaste which I price matched for $1. The Q as for 75 cents. The cashier had to ring and price adjust the toothpaste to 25 cents which would be the price after price matching and the doubled amount of the Q. Then after ringing that, she would scan the coupon which took 75 cents off.
All of the cashiers and managers seem confused. I had people behind me in line getting mad and throwing things because it was taking so long. Thankfully they didn’t throw things at me!
Oh, I live in WEST VIRGINIA. It is a state of its own and has been since June 20,1863! 🙂 I prefer to go barefoot but I do own several pair of shoes. I have running water and electricity in my house. One leg is not shorter than the other from walking around on the side of the mountain all the time. And yes, my family tree has branches!
YOU ROCK!!!!
I called both Walmarts in Findlay, Ohio and was told by both of them that they are not participating in this program.
okay, I will make a note. thanks!
Vienna, WV Walmart is taking part in this as well.
Vienna, WV Wal Mart is doubling, but it is painfully slow…they want coupons and price matches at the beginning of the order….you have to walk them through it and it is painfully slow. Girls I work with say southside WM is also participating and Mtta WM too!!
The majority of Walmart’s employee’s are so rude! It’s very unfortunate to trade your dignity for a good deal. But I keep on doing it…
wish they would hurry and let Louisiana in the list!
I live in Barboursville, WV and this walmart is doing it as well. Any profit is just carried over and taken off the total. It does take forever because they are price adjusting then ringing up the coupon. Its totally worth it though. They are also price matching with 12 local competitors and letting you double on top of that. I haven’t had this much fun couponing ever!!
I am really really jealous.Walmart, I need some love in Texas
I agree Paul. I am in Texas and only have 1 Wal mart and 2 HEB’s here in Victoria. I am quite certain they will not ever include us in the list unless we get another chain in here to give them some competition. Our population has grown so much with all the drilling and industrial plants going up here we really need more stores. It is crazy to shop here!!! I have noticed that the walmart added more checkers. Even though I love to coupon shop, I get a pit in my stomach when I have to get in line and people start stacking up behind me so I keep my trips to every other week or less. Oh, on a good note we have 4 walgreens and 1 brand new CVS store.
Visited the Walmart in Vienna WV yesterday – they’re doubling coupons. The casher told me it was a three month pilot program.
I’m so jealous! Paducah, KY really needs to be participating! 🙂
I JUST got back from my local Walmart here in Barboursville, WV (right next to Huntington) and I was told that they would accept Manufacturer Coupons, Price Matching AND double all coupons up to .99 (unless otherwise stated). I went in with just a few coupons and came out saving over five bucks! That’s a lot to a stay-at-home-mom! AND the checkout guy was nice but you do have to make sure you put each coupon with each item. As long as you work it in advance – this is awesome! I’m getting organized for a second trip! 🙂
anyone know if the lewisburg walmart in wv is doing it
I live close to the summersville wv walmart and they are not doing this. all the other stores that are I would have to drive more than 60 miles one way just to get doubles. That is the closest one that doubles. Not worth it.Hopefully they start this in my area soon. I have a kroger in my town and they only double up to .50 and only allow you 2 like coupons which sucks. As for walmart pricematching a bogo with no price mentioned in the ad that is against the policy they are NOT supposed to PM a bogo unless the price is mentioned. If you all want this to work correctly and so they keep deals like this going and to expand them to other areas please follow the coupon policies they have in place. I know it is usually up to the individual store. But when you PM bogo’s(with no price mentioned),use doubles, stack coupons, etc that will result again in extreme couponing and people will again be clearing shelves and things like that again and it will cause these programs to be stopped eventually because the stores will be losing money.
The policy states if a walmart does double you either choose doubles,PM’ing or using competitors coupons not all of the above.
Tracey, I agree with most of what you said until the end. The policy does not state that you have to choose one policy to follow. I would like to see where you are getting that info from.
PLEASE, PLEASE come to GA !!!!!
Drama at the check out! Last I heard Walmart was accepting Manufacturer’s coupons. I went over the weekend with a few Target and Meijer coupons that had an amount, ($1.00 off wyb 2). I used the same type of coupons 2 weeks ago with no problems, but this time they said they only accepted the store coupons that had both the price of the item and the amount off clearly printed on the coupon. Really I’ve never seen a coupon that said, “Wonder Bread 2.99, get 1.00 off. But that is the only type of competitor coupons my WalMart claims to accept. I’m in Hilliard, Ohio.
A friend and I are making the 2 hour drive from KY to the Wayne, WV WallyWorld this Sunday! Wish us luck! 🙂
I checked with the Madison, OH location and it is a DAILY double couponing! I’m heading there today…even if it does take a while to check out, SO worth it!! Thank you so much for this info!!
If you are in the area, the Ashtabula location does NOT and is VERY rude when you ask about it…LOL
OMG! I hope they start doing it in North Carolina!!! 8)
I go to the parkersburg wv walmart and they are awesome!!!! I have lost track of how much money I have saved since the test run started. It is amazing!!!!! I spoke with the manager last night and he said that with the response they have had he does not see walmart ending this program. I am a loyal Kroger fan but Gosh you just can’t pass these deals from walmart. I can pm any local store use all my coupons and save a ton of money!!! keeping my fingers crossed this new policy on doubling coupons sticks.
I’m headed to WV this week for business and can’t WAIT to take my coupons with me! I’ll be taking a cooler as well…..:)
Wish they would test pilot some Walmart’s in Texas here, around Dallas area. Looks like after reading some article son this, the program is a success. If so, all Walmart’s should start doing this, as I read there sales slipped a bit. By doing this they can lure in more customers and sales will increase, and groceries will be more affordable to the consumer. FOr example, coupons from $.25- $.35 cents will be tripled, coupons from 50 cents to 75 cents will be around up to $1.00. Anything over $1.00 is face value.
Madison, Ohio Wal-Mart no longer doubling coupons….too many complaints from customers behind couponers…..stated took too long to check out 🙁
That really sucks. I live about 3hrs from there & was going to make a trip on my next weekend off. =(
Really, did you not hear about the war in 1812? Virginia split and made West Virginia a state.
Were u referring to what I said?!?! If so, we are even farther away from West Virginia than the one in Ohio.
I just had an awesome cashier check me out as well at the south walmart. The only downer was they were wiped out of a lot of things that I could have got for free..so couponers are hitting them hard…I can tell!
The coupon doubling is very time consuming but it is well worth it I live in Charleston WV and I price match and use coupons at Walmart it is GREAT.
Here they have lines for coupon and non- coupons so that seems to help a little, people that don’t want held up by the coupons just get in a non coupon line sure hope they continue the doubling.
I shop at the Vienna, W.V. Wal-Mart (near Grand Central Mall) and they did manually double my coupons on every item I bought. The savings were amazing! This is true and wonderful.
I live in Spencer WV (About an hour from Charleston, the capitol)–Our Walmart is doubling. It does tke a while but everyone is trying to work together so it continues. Couponers have sort-of united and are trying to help make t as easy as possible for the cashiers. We put or tape our coupons to the product and put like products together at checkout. If we are comp’ing to another store we put sticky notes with the comp price on the item like: 10/$10 Comp to KMart eggs (that is one I used yesterday!!!) and we are not required to buy 10doz eggs–although I did. They do honor BOGO and can use 2 manufacturers coupons too (one on each item) They are doubling up to .99cents so if I present a $0.75 coupon it will discount for $1.50. The way our cashiers are doing it since the registers are not programmed yet—is on the first item they deduct the amount of the coupon manually with a calculator—so if you have a .50cents off 2 loaves of bread—-and the regular price is $1.34 ea–the first item will be on the receipt as $0.84 the next item will be the reg priced bread @ $1.34 then they scan the coupon at its orginal value of $0.50. That’s how doubling is recorded properly and is shown on our receipts.—It is time consuming and takes a while but none of us are complaining. It’s worth the time. Our Walmart has coupon friendly registers so people that are not doing it are not irate. ANd the cashiers in well-trained at those registers. They are in process of training the other cashiers. The un-trained cashiers are the only ones having problems or complaining about dealing with it–but that is all changing. We have been told it is a pilot program and will last through October–but have not been told if they will adopt it fully and continue yet. They are honoring all area stores to compare to—some stores we compare to are as far up as Morgantown as we do not have very many stores near us–we are very rural locale. Most of us do take copies of ads with us just in case we need to verify but the policy states “No ad necessary”—but the casiers sometimes ask to see it if we have it–I think that is so they can understand exactly how each ad is worded. THey have to lean so many prices and then it changes with each eek due to the changing ads of course. SO we all just take thm with us. SOme people download them into their laptops or Iphones and show those–but you cannot “show” a coupon it must be printed. They will not accept/honor competing ads that do not have an exact price to match. If the ad says a % off—they cannot do it because they do not know how much to take off–and since they are doing it manually–it makes sense. It must say a specific amount of cents off and it works just fine. We love this and are trying to make sure we abide by the rules. We match the exact size item for item—oz for oz. A few people have gottne through asking for comp’ing for an item that was much larger than that depicted in the ad—that is the same as shoplifting/stealing. That shold not happen–it is abusive of the system. I hope it continues and helps our economy here!! If you want to shop in Spencer, WV you are welcome to our little town!! 🙂
They are doubling at some stores in S.C. also. My sister lives in Summerville and she said she was surprised her was doubled. They told her it was new and they had to manually do it all. Thanks for all your hard working checking into this!
I live 20 miles from the Mason, WV Walmart and they double coupons up to 99 cents. I usually get there around midnight and it takes about 1 1/2 hrs to shop, making sure I meet what’s allowable on the coupon. I price match and coupon so checkout can get a bit frustrating since the coupons have to be manually deducted and the price match overridden. Checkout usually takes 15-20 minutes, depending on the cashier. Tonight I had a cashier that had only worked register for 3 nights. I felt sorry for her. Thank goodness they had 2 lines open and no one was behind me. I’ve heard that this store has 2 registers open during the day just for couponers. I wouldn’t know since I go so late. I live closer to Gallipolis, OH Walmart but at this time they don’t double coupons. I only shop there with coupons over 1.00. I have to say that the cashiers in Mason are wonderful. The cashiers in Gallipolis have an attitude and seem to give a lot us ‘savers’ trouble.(and they don’t even have to deal with doubling) Apparently they don’t know their own policy and a friend of mine has called the manager twice only for him to say the cashiers were wrong and he would be going over the policy with them. I guess he might get to that in a couple of years. 🙂 BTW…two weeks ago I was told by an employee that the doubling program would be in the register system sometime in November. Tonight I was told they were stopping the doubling due to the Christmas frenzy. I don’t know what to believe.
Well here is some unfortunate information! As of Nov. 1st. South Charleston’s “Southridge Location” Store #2036 in WV is ending the doubling of the coupons. It was a great go and we did have tons of couponers. I can honestly say that I believe the reason it is ending is due to the fact each Manager had their own policy on the coupons. It was a headache for not only cashiers but also for the customers. I would not even shop at my own store with my coupons because I saw daily how the policy would be different for each manager. I use the Nitro Location, they got it together. Not only did they do the coupons right they gave me my overage in CASH!!! Yes CASH!!!. I am not sure if Nitro, Hurricane, Barboursville, Huntington and the new Quincy store are ending theirs as well. Call before you go!
Yes—I live in Spencer, West Virginia and we (couponers) were told it will end Nov 1st. Our Walmart will still Price Match and will still accept coupons but will not double. We are very sad. Everyone is talking very strongly about shopping at Krogers in Ripley WV (26 miles away)—:(
Nitro Walmart is also ending theirs 🙁 I asked them today on my trip down there. So sad. Everyone needs to call corporate and complain. Our CSM’s told us our sales were up since the doubling started yet they are taking it away. Bye Bye sales and bonus’ 🙁
Okay so it was great while it lasted. As of October 31, 2011 they are taking this away from us. I was told by a manager that if they continue this policy Walmart would go out of business. Are you kidding me??? This small Walmart store (no deli, no optical, no hair salon) in a small town, that is one of the only 2 grocery stores in our town will be run out of business because of doubling coupons???????? What a load of crap! Our town doesn’t have much but Walmart is where we go for all of our shopping needs. If not we have to drive over 30 minutes to get to another large grocery chain. Take it away Walmart and it will be well worth my drive to a larger grocery chain in another town whether its 30 minutes or an hour away!
FYI! Rumor is that effective Nov 1 doubling coupons at Walmart in WV will END! OMG! I’m going to miss the good deals!!!!! Please email them and tell them to keep program going!!!!!!
Does anyone know if Walmarts in West Virgina will be bringing back double coupons. I was ready for a big trip and heard they stopped doubling as of yesturday so I caled the Logan, WV store and they said they no longer double. I also called stores in Charleston and Huntington they are no longer double either. Hope this is temporary really helped being able to double.
I live in West Virginia and our Mason Walmart was doing the doubling, along with 3 other Walmarts that were within reasonable driving distance to me, Parkersburg, Huntington and Ripley. As of Oct. 31st. they have stopped and said that it is due to the holidays. They said that it will be coming back after the first of the year and they will be programming their computers to double so it doesn’t take over an hour to check out.
I so hope so I live near Logan, WV and they stopped also but no one seemed to know why. I really hope they restart but til then I found out K-mart is doubling til 11-5 and on every Sunday. I got really good deals there tonight.
I heard the same thing just before they stopped. I can understand them stopping it until after the returns season. Can you imagine the check out during the Christmas shopping season with couponers AND Christmas shopping both going on?
Which K-Mart is doubling? I never heard about this going on. Do you know if they are still doing it? Can’t wait to hear this one.
I live in Elkins WV and our Wal-Mart never even tried the double coupons. I hate it! At least Kroger doubles up to .50 but it would be great if it were up to $1.00 like some of them do.
I live in Utah and they only double up to a $ so .75 only goes to $1 but still its a good deal. I have to agree the manual entering stinks but the cashiers are mostly nice about it and if you keep a good attitude its not so bad. Plus you have time to compare with other couponers 🙂
Walmarts in Summerville, South Carolina are doubling coupons as well! It does take a little longer to check out but you can usually tell which cashiers are going to be quicker than others. The cashiers REALLY appreciate if you separate all the items that have double coupons for from your regular items. I just load all my regular items on the counter, leave a little space and then load the items that have double coupons. Makes it easier on them and those waiting in line behind you.
The ones in Summerville have ended the pilot program. The one in Goose Creek is due to end tomorrow
Is walmart being Doubles Coupon back?
Did Walmart bring this back in these areas?
