First, according to Walmarts Facebook page it was a misprint in the add stating that they will take competitors coupons. It meant to say that they would honor competitors sales ad…. that sucks.
But, and this is where Walmart has major problems, is that some of you are saying that your stores have accepted competitors coupons for a while now.
I feel like a broken record, but this is where Walmart messes up. They give the decision to the store managers in most cases, who many times go against what is written in their own coupon policy, confusing customers and making them mad!
Some stores are awesome, they take competitors coupons, they price match, they take internet coupons without a hassle, and they like couponers. Other stores are just the opposite. The only solution that I can see to this is first, on their part, Walmart has to get some consistency. They can’t have a corporate coupon policy that not all stores follow. Second on us, we just have to find out what our store is willing to do, be good couponers and make the phone calls every now and then to get some changes made.
These are the facts for me: Walmart is the cheapest place to purchase things for my family, regardless of how frustrating they might be. Many of us ONLY have a Walmart to shop at and have to deal with it. I have fortunately moved to a place where I have more choices, but I know that many of you don’t have that choice and are stuck with Walmart so you have to make it the best experience possible. As long as my Walmart continues to price match and take coupons, I will keep shopping there.
I HATE hearing your frustrating stories. I have called corporate many times to find out the answer to question for you, only to be told something different every time I call. I will continue to do everything that I can and try to help and find the answers for you, please let me know what I can do to help.
What do you think? What will your store do?
I’ve had so much crap from stores about internet coupons, there are only a few Walmarts I will even shop at anymore! I haven’t even TRIED the ad-match because I can see that being such a headache. It’s also embarrassing to hold up the line for 15 minutes because the cashier has no idea what to do and has to go get a manager off their butt to come help- only to have them contradict what is written on the coupon/say they won’t take internet coupons/say whatever.
I love Walmart, but I am definitely getting fed up with their junk! 🙁
i have stopped shopping at walmart all together. they r rude and ask me stuff . lke im stealing r lying.i was so epset a few weeks ago i held myself together then broke down in the car i was so upset and very angry..they would believe the price for bathroom cleaner that was onsale at cvs .

Here you go!
My hubby works at Walmart so we do buy our share of stuff there only because with discount it makes it cheaper. I havn’t had any coupon problems at our store other than the fact that some cashiers take FOREVER reading them trying to make sure they are legit. Our Safeway doubles coupons so I do my fair share there also. Rite Aid and Walgreens have awesome deals but are almost always sold out of the good stuff. I think at Walmart the cashier makes a big difference. Some are great about coupons and others have no clue!
I share in others’ frustration about this, but what I’m most curious about is how such a LARGE, obvious “typo” appeared — ?? I mean, the “typo” very obviously and clearly says “COUPON.” How did someone mess this up?
I agree that it almost rests in the hands of the cashier. I’ve had some examine my coupons, some practically ignore them and push them through, have been told I cannot use the self-check line with more than 4 coupons (yet someone can have 2 cartfulls of items). I DO appreciate Wal-Mart and its low prices, but it is getting trying to deal with any question about coupons. I don’t want them to brag about how they accept any/all coupons unless they really mean it!
I am thankful to have other shopping options, but do shop wal-mart when I have to. The Wal-Mart in my area is not very coupon friendly, but it mainly depends on the cashier. One told me the other day that she could not take a coupon that came out of a “blinkie” just because it was from another store. It said nothing about the other store on it, it just said “Smart Source coupon”….wouldn’t budge. Another told me once that they could no longer accept printable coupons. Well….I just noticed on the bottom of one of my most recent receipts that it says “Will gladly accept all valid manufacturer and internet coupons”! I will show that to each and every cashier that wants to argue with me from now on! So, check those receipts!
I used to have tons of problems with WM regarding coupons. Now I know which cashiers give me problems and which ones don’t. Really I do that at any store.
But 3 issues made my WM couponing much easier:
1)we bought a laser (inexpensive) printer. The coupons are printed nice and crisp. The scanners have no problems with the barcodes.
2) My husband had a nice face to face chat with the store managers and asst managers at both our WMs. Explained that the cashiers and supervisors were making life miserable for me and those behind me in line. He explained that we would apprecieate clear guidelines so we can work with those. They understood. One does not get to that position with a company as large as WM and not try to make things better for their customers.
3) I make sure that all my coupons and deals are worked out before I get to the cashier.
I’m in VA Beach, I wanted to check out the “We match competitor’s ads OR coupon” thing in this weeks ad. They played on the words printed and said NO web coupons from target. 🙁 (Salem Crossing Super Center) They really are clueless as to what Home Office is doing, it’s like the blind leading the blind.
