If you are anything like me, you get bored with the look your home is sporting and need an update once in a while. Doing a complete remodeling is a daunting and expensive task. What isn’t however, is redecorating. There are some small adjustments you can make that will make your bathroom look (almost) new again and wow your guests as well.
One of the easiest ways to update the look is change the color scheme. I am really digging the brown and teal combo lately. Forgo the expensive accessories and hit up Walmart and get the basics in the color you want. For instance, if you are going for the brown and teal combo, Walmart has these awesome plastic bathroom basic accessories like toothbrush holders, soap dishes and soap dispensers for $1.88 each. Compare that to the ones with designs on them at almost $9.00 each, this is a screaming deal.
To make your colors pop, spend the extra money on things like hand towels and bath towels and they will bring your color scheme all together. You don’t even need to buy several. Just one or two of each and a basic brown or teal towel to fill in the space on the towel rack with make it look fun.
Another way to make your bathroom more welcoming is to consider how you store your toilet tissue. If you are like most people, you probably store it in a closet or right in the bathroom. Make it look put together and ditch the plastic bag it comes in by investing in a cheap toilet tissue holder. I got one at a discount store for less that $4.00 and it not only keeps me from having to find a place to store the half-opened bag, but also allows me to never hear, ” Hey!! Can someone bring me a roll of toilet tissue?! I am out in here!” from the bathroom. They is always a roll ready to use as long as I keep it stocked.
Additionally, try adding some plants that require low amounts of light in the bathroom. They add a bit of life to a room that is typically lifeless.
Finally, it may seem silly, but adding a simple picture that ties in with your color scheme can really make the bathroom seem more homey. This can be done by just finding a picture in an old calendar and putting it in a frame. I would suggest making sure the frame and the picture fit tightly as to not allow water buildup inside from the moisture of showers. One way you can do this is by using some glue from a glue gun or some silicone caulking to seal it off on the edges. You can get cheap frames for less than $2.00 in Walmart’s home decor section.
