I went in Saturday morning to answer the following question for myself, can you use coupons on layaway items at Walmart? I knew the answer but I know how you guys like video proof. The answer is yes, but it didn’t go exactly as I had planned.

My first thought were that I was going to use the coupons to make the initial deposit on my layaway account. The guy was kinda freaking out that I was going to use coupons at all, but this really sent trembles down his spine. It turns out that you can use coupons but they have to be entered before you hit the total button so they didn’t count towards the layaway deposit.

The only issue that I encountered was that the coupon lowers your TOTAL amount and the opening amount has to be above $50.00. The two toys I was buying totaled $64.97 so I had to use the $10.00 off coupon and then I made a “payment” with the $5.00 coupon. Using both coupons at once would have made my total $49.97 and not eligible to open the account. I hope this helps!
