(Just wanted all of you IHTMarters to know how important it is to me to make sure that you are taking advantage of every deal possible, I’m posting in between coaching my son’s baseball games. So if I misspell a word or leave out a word, please forgive my distraction.)
Now, here’s a CVS price match opportunity that I wasn’t able to take advantage of today because the ad doesn’t come out until tomorrow, but it makes quite a difference. On the way to the baseball game, I stopped by Walmart to grab some snacks, and I grabbed some Rice Krispie treats. Then it dawned on me how much I could be saving if I was able to buy them tomorrow! Dang!
Rice Krispie Treats 8ct. $2.68 (Walmart Price)
Rice Krispie Treats 8 ct. $1.79 (Price Match to CVS)
That’s a savings of $.89 without even using a coupon! And that’s why I’m constantly telling you about price matching. Just one simple move of taking your ad in when you are shopping can save you so much! I challenge you to try it this week! Just try it and tell me how much you were able to save!
Do you ever go and NOT bring the ad? It does state in their policy that you dont need it! I have found they give you a harder time when you dont have it, but they will still do it!
I have had success bringing the ad and not bringing the ad. I err on the side of caution and bring the ad with me. Honestly, it’s just easier to remember what we need to buy if you have the ad with you.
I have forgotten the ad but had stuff written down before—they had to check with a manager, but still did it….but I do agree its much easier with it!
I do this all the time! I should post how much I save with price match and using coupons. I price matched eggs this week to kmart’s ad for .99 each, we have local grocery stores and I price match from them also when they have good deals! I saved almost 2 dollars a piece on toilet paper. Menards (hardware store in iowa) had quilted northern tp paper 12 double rolls for 4.99 each. walmarts price 6.97 or 6.98 I can’t remember which. I didn’t have coupons but still a good price and I saved a few bucks! I also price matched the dawn this week .99 cents at walgreens and used .25 cents off each coupons! I hope all you heart the mart people do the same! I will keep track of what I do next week and report my savings!! 🙂
Walmart’s price on the dawn…. 1.34…. It does add up if you do it a lot plus you save on gas and time!!!!
Love the price matching! Paul, any update on the coupon doubling? I’m sitting on some coupons I’d love to use, but hoping the 8-1 date discussed is in the works…
I believe some places are actually going to start on Aug 1. I don’t know any details and that info didn’t come from Corporate. I really don’t have any idea at this point.
I keep the ad in my car, but 99% of the time I never even have anyone ask for the ad. Although I went to walmart last night and seen the skintimate wiped out and I suspect people were price matching for todays ad instead of last weeks. Kind of sad because I would have priced matched it today, but there was none left.
Was in walmart yesterday and they had $1/2 peelies on the poptarts to me the deal sweeter 🙂
I priced matched Dollar General Bic pens – 2 for $1. I showed the ad to the cashier and her question was: “Are they for the blue or black pens?” Seriously?! It doesn’t matter. They were the 10 count and said “stic pens”… you don’t need anymore detail than that! They are very skeptical when it comes to price matching so always have your ad with you even though they say it doesn’t matter.
I wish I could price match the Scotch glue sticks on sale at Walgreens. As usual, none of the stores actually have the sale product. Not sold out, just haven’t received any according to the to store managers I’ve spoke with today. Grrrrrr. I’m not sure how they continue to get away with what I believe is massive bait and switch advertising.
Does anyone know if Walmart will price match a prescription transfer coupon I have for Kroger? I need to refill a prescription currently at Kroger, but I’d like to move it to Walmart.
Ran in today to use the Duke’s mayo coupon that was expiring today. Price matched a local store at 2/$5 and used .55MC…paid 1.95ea, Walmart’s price 3.38ea. Also price matched Walgreen’s in ad for PureSilk shave cream at .99, used .80MC=.19ea…Walmart price 1.68 ea. Just bought a DS lite this past Friday for $99 at Walmart, got Target’s ad this AM and saw it was on sale this week for $89. Took my receipt in and they price matched and gave me the difference back. Just on those (3 shave cream, 2 mayo, DS) saved 13.83 on price matching alone before coupons. I usually shop at my reg. stores once a week with coupons and sales, but I make Walmart my last stop of the trip so that I can price match anything the other stores were out of. I prefer not to go in Walmart and price match a list of 50+ items at once. Even though the folks at my Walmart are the best, I still choose not to bombard them like that 😉
I price matched, my first time…:) at Walmart from Target’s ad, for the Bic pens! I got 10 packs, also price matched the Scotch tape and was able to use the $1 off coupons with those. I also got a bunch of toothbrushes. Total: FREE, plus…first time for me also…overage! Yah! I was able to go to lunch, on Walmart of course for Taco Bell’s Burrito Supremes! 🙂
Good finds Jennifer! That’s awesome!
Hi i am confused on something and maybe you can help… my walmart says they will take the target web coupons for the same items.. in weeks past they said it was not going to happen and i go in yesterday and now they take them… what is up with that… and i will be price matching today with publix ad on some school snacks
Hey Paul,
I price matched for the first time today. I took the Walgreens add to my local and was able to price match the Pure Silk Shaving Cream for $.99 (Walmart Price $1.68), saved $.69 then I used an $.80 coupon making them $.19 each!
Yippeee!
Frances
