This trip was submitted by I Heart the Mart Reader Kary. I haven’t been great about your reader trips lately but I promise I will do better! This one has a clever little title and a great trip! Here it is in her own words!
Hello!
So I had the Almay $4/1 and Colgate $1/1 coupons, 9 of each. Went to Wallie world, got 8 deodorants, 1 eyeshadow, a package of work socks at $8.77, and 9 Colgate toothpastes. After coupons, they owed me $2.47, so I had to quick get a soda and 2 candy bars. I paid a total of $0.65 for the entire order!!!!
I did go to another Wal-Mart before this, and they refused my coupons saying that deodorant was NOT a cosmetic. I guess I could have thrown in the towel, but instead I decided to try another store. Woot Woot!!!!
I love the part about trying another store. The funny thing about the Almay coupon is that it was definitely just a cashier imposing her own will since the coupon scans great.
I had the same thing happen with the Almay coupons and using it for the make-up removers. Different stores, different cashiers, different outcomes. I also went to Walmart today and she had problems with the computer accepting 3 of my coupons and she was skeptically looking at them. She told me that they are under pressure to watch the coupons carefully and not to do overrides on their own. After checking with a manager, they couldn’t figure out why the machine wasn’t accepting them as they were good for what I had bought and overrided it anyway.
I have had the same problems with “cashiers imposing their own will” and wondering what it the best way to handle these situtations. The manager always agree with the cashier. Is it better to just walk then try to teach ignorant people how to read a coupon.
The Almay coupons are supposed to be use for cosmetics only not on deodorant. I’m sorry but deodorant is not a cosmetic.
Hey Rosey, the FDA has deodorant listed as a cosmetic item. I am certain the Almay is aware of this. Thanks so much!
They accused me of coupon fraud because of this coupon. The manager was so rude. I don’t if I should call the corporate or not because I always shop at that location, and I don’t want any bad consequences in my future trips.
Paul thank-you for the FDA head’s up on this one! I used this coupon yesterday at my Walmart without any problems, but I had a bunch of people on my website with their britches in a bunch because the deodorant is NOT a cosmetic. But thanks to you for the Head’s UP on this one as I did some research and was able to back this up with the actual FDA website page and wording! Blessings and thank-you for all the wonderful work you do with the Walmart stuff! I re-post your stuff a lot on my little website-blog and give you credit for those posts!
Blessings!

I went to 3 different Walmarts and used 30 of the Almay coupons (10 at each). They all took the coupons, no questions asked. I did not use the overage for purchases, I simply took the cash back. I had no problems with any cashiers though each one did call over a manager just to comfirm and without hesitation the manager said yes, give her the money.
Thank you Wal-Mart!
