Will Walmart Price Match Online Prices?
The answer is YES, during the Holiday Season.
This is one of the questions that I get the most on I Heart the Mart. There are actually two different different ways to do this and one will be considerably easier than the other.
Walmart has just announced that for the first time it is going to let you choose the “Pay with Cash” in store option for Black friday and Cyber Monday/Cyber Week. This option is already available for everyday items and is a huge help.
This is the exact same thing as Price matching Walmart.com. If you want to pay with a debit or credit card they are also doing free shipping on most items so you might as well order it online.
I think this is a great idea for a few reasons.
- There are items you can only get online.
- If you are an envelope system, cash using family, this is awesome!
- Perfect for people who don’t use credit or debit cards.
I went in and “bought” something to see what my choices were. Sure enough, the cash option is there! Just choose cash and “site to store” to get free shipping and pick it up a few days later as if you bought it in the store!
I can price match Target’s black fri ad at Walmart.com and or at the store? how do you price match online deals?
Hi! Love this site, by the way. I live in a small town and Walmart is really the only game in town within a 45 minute drive, so all of my Black Friday shopping (if any) will be done there.
I was wondering about the Pay With Cash and price match thing, especially for Black Friday deals.
For example, they have Product X online for $200 currently, and it isn’t featured in any of their ads. However, Product X is featured in the Office Depot ad as being $150 on Friday and Saturday (we don’t have a regional Office Depot, unfortunately). I went to my local Walmart and they didn’t have the item in stock to put in layaway and suggested I order it online site to store.
So, if I order Product X online, site to store on, say, Thursday, and select the Pay With Cash option… If I go in on Friday or Saturday (within 48 hours of placing my order) to Pay With Cash, will they price match the Office Depot ad price? Or will I be paying the price that was on Walmart.com when I placed my order online? If they will price match, do I need to bring a physical Office Depot ad in to show them the price and details? Or will they just trust me on it?
Also, I don’t necessarily have to pay with cash, do I? When I go in to make my payment, I can pay with a credit or debit card?
Sorry for all the questions, this is my first time really trying to work hard to score a deal during Black Friday and I’ve never done price matching at any store, so I want to make sure I take advantage of any opportunity presented to get the best price on a Christmas gift! 🙂
A copy of that memo would be fantastic, my Walmart isn’t playing ball.
How should we be bringing in pricing to match? Do you just print out the page for the item online from the comp.’s website? I prefer to go in to match, but would like to know what has to be brought to meet their terms. 🙂
