Check out this deal that I Heart the Mart reader Cindy scored with her son. They went to Walmart to buy Grand Theft Auto and walked out with 2 games!! Wow, I don’t know if this is something that just her store is doing but if you are in the market for a game it is worth asking about while you are at Walmart! The interesting thing is that the game was marked not for individual resale, so maybe many stores have this!!! I hope so.
Here it is in her own words:
Hi Paul,
I went to Wal-mart last evening with my son to purchase an Xbox game, Grand Theft Auto. The guy helping us asked if he also already owned Halo 4. We do not. So when he bought the GTA, he got a Halo 4 game for free. It was labeled with a sticker that said “not for individual sale.” There was no sign up about this that I could see. When I asked him if this was a promotion, he said no that they just had too much inventory. Yeah us!!
Now I have the receipt but I am bad at all things computer. If you want more info or need pics you could contact me and I could try and nag my husband and son into helping me.
Love your site.
Cindy
My son works for walmart in electronics and he said he has not heard of anything like this before. He said the games marked not for individual resale are the ones that are supposed to be displayed on the consoles for in store demos.
I also work for Walmart and have never heard of this. There is no such thing as “too much stock” where Walmart is concerned, they are in the business to make money not give it away. Also in conjunction w/the above statement, “not for individual sale” also applies to multi packs of games/movies as in one is the promotional item when you buy the other one.
I received the Halo 3 game in a similar manner. I was at a store when a rep from the game company was there. She had copies that were marked “not for individual sale” that she was handing out to people.
