I have had the craziest week and I have had a really hard time getting my reports to you guys. I have been keeping track and I will get to that in a minute. We bought a new house at the beginning of the school year and we had a couple projects that we knew we were going to do. We had absolutely no idea how horrific it all was going to go.
Project 1
Our house was built in 1978 and had some really badly painted wood railing so we decided to update it with wrought iron. We wanted a little bit of a custom design and since we didn’t have a top rail that was going to stay it has to be built from scratch. We our on our 3rd welder and I have now bought the material 3 times over the past 6 weeks. It makes we want to vomit, it still isn’t done and I am trying to figure out what I want to do.
The railing you see is completely crooked and has to be redone. The glass seems a bit perilous but so far the kids have stayed completely away from it.
Project 2
I made the mistake of telling my wife we could get new sofas if she sold ours first, selling ours took all of 1 hour. That was 2 weeks ago and we still sitting on a bean bags and ottomans. We have been to every furniture store in Houston 3 times and so far haven’t found anything that we both love. If we both like it, we can’t get it until March or April. The balance of something big enough for all of us and keeping the size to something reasonable is almost impossible.
We are using tape to figure out what we can fit in the room.
Project 3
Paint. Need I say more?
Project 4 Tiffany’s Bonus Project
Granite Counter Tops on the Bar. We have a bar in our house. I told you it was built in 1978. It has a horrific black laminate, but we don’t ever use it, won’t ever use it. Yes, we still have to replace it. NOW!!!
Needless to say I have been a bit preoccupied dealing with a lot of nonsense. I have been doing very well on reducing the amount of carbs and I have completely cut out soda. The exercise has been going moderately well and 2 out of the last 3 nights I have been doing far better on the amount of sleep I have been getting.
Breakfast- Each morning I have had an egg dish with either bacon, turkey bacon or canadian bacon. I mix up the way I prepare my eggs, but my favorite is in an omelet.
Lunch. Chicken Salad or Tuna Salad. I also had left over gyro meat one day.
Dinner- We have had some sort of meat, vegetable, salad and the kids have a starch which I skip.
I have been following the saga of the railing. If you don’t have a contractor yet, might be worth contacting the metalwork a place on 1960 toward humble. They are going out of business but sat at dinner on Saturday with 3-4 people who had had custom ironwork done and all loved the place and highly recommended it. Sorry don’t remember the name of co but would recognize it if I heard it. They said price was reasonable too. They may not take new work if going out of business but might be worth checking. Have never personally used them but others had.
This is why we never do anything to our house ever! 😉 Okay, that and maybe because we are lazy. If you guys don’t find any furniture in Houston you should try Dallas. We will meet you there and I will convince Ben we really need sofas too (we do).
Still trying to stay healthy. The scale finally went down a whole two pounds. I came home from lunch the other day with a ‘soda’ and all the girls wanted a drink. They really didn’t like that I switched from Dr. Pepper to selza water!
We may seriously take you up on that! I am so tired of looking. I can’t believe you are drinking the carbonated water, BLAH!!!! I actually think the carbonation is part of the health issue. I am sticking to water with lemon or orange.
