Well it did not take too long before they updated the NEW coupon policy to clarify a few things. This new update specifically addresses RR in my opinion. The coupon MUST say a specific item that you are taking the $$ amount off.
Although RR have been scanning without a problem for some people, it looks like Walmart will not be able to successfully redeem them. The catalina’s that they will take are from the Grocery stores in your area. I can’t think of any other place that offers catalina’s back besides the grocery stores, (other than Walgreens) that are going to be an issue. I am pretty excited about this even excluding the RR opportunity. We get so many good catalinas at Kroger and Randalls, that we have the ability to use at Walmart where the prices are cheaper that I am glad to see in writing that they are to take them even with another stores logo on them.
Had they taken RR that would have been a HUGE bonus! Now we know though for sure and can plan trips without the hassle of being turned away.
They also address WIC and SNAP issues.
This is the only thing that concerns me, “Item purchased must be identical to the coupon (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc).” If they show a picture of strawberry marshmallows and the wording says ANY size or flavor, I don’t want to have to only buy strawberry because that is the picture. All they had to do to make “me” feel better was add in the words, “Item purchased must match the WORDING on the coupon”.

yeah!!! this is great so…. if they do take a price match from another store and a different store’s coupon then we can get the clean and clear body wash for 99cents 🙂 and they may take a manfactured Q too :))) that would be free :))) will try this tomra 🙂
Well, it was fun while it lasted. 🙂
DeCA still allows RRs though, wonder why they can and WM can’t? Especially considering how strict commissaries must be in abiding by coupon policies…
I’m disappointed that one cannot get overage (to be used toward the order) on SNAP purchases (though I’m not sure how that works, since the SNAP card isn’t brought out until everything has been totaled), though I imagine it probably has something to do with Federal law. We had to make the very difficult choice last year to apply for SNAP benefits when my husband went through an extended period of unemployment (most of last year) and is still currently underemployed, but things are slowly improving. We never would have made it otherwise, but it was hard after over 25 years married to take this step. And at first we were only given just over $300/month for a family of six, so I really stepped up my couponing to stretch those funds! I guess if I see that I can get overage on a food coupon, I’ll want to do a separate cash transaction.
I do understand WIC. My youngest is on WIC and the checks list specific items to purchase, so there isn’t any wiggle-room on those.
Sham on you Walmart
You are right to worry about the new policy wording about size color etc. I have never had a problem with my local Wal-Mart accepting overage until the other day when I tried to use the $1 off Frigo cheese sticks. The cashier first questioned the overage and I explained that I have always been able to and it is in the coupon policy. She of coures didn’t belive me so she called over her CSM and I couldn’t believe she too did not know about the overage policy and told me I couldn’t use them. I told her to get her manager because she didn’t know what I was talking about with the new coupon policy. They sent over their “Store Planner” (whoever that is) and sadly he didn’t know about it either and continued to argue with me about using my coupon. He also made me go out to my car to show him the new policy when I had my 6 month old grandson with me! Very unprofessional. Long story short the Store Planner talked to his co-manager and told me the issue wasn’t the overage anymore, but now I couldn’t use the coupon because the picture didn’t match what I was trying to purchase even though there was nothing in writing on the coupon that said different. At this point I was very angry and this “Store Planner” was very rude and made me feel as if it wasn’t about my coupon anymore, but about him being right and doing everything he could to prove me wrong in some way. This happened before the second revised coupon policy came out. So now they have a written way out of accepting overage coupons. So according to this “store planner” I can’t use the new $5.00 off ANY little tikes purchase at Wal-Mart because I want to buy a little tykes wagon for my grandson and the coupon shows a picture of a turtle sandbox. I guess another store will be getting my business! (p.s I did write corporate about the very rude and unprofessional “store planner” and have not heard back)
Yes i actually tried the Frigo Cheese Coupons on the individuals today and they did not take them because they were not the item pictured, which was the big package…oh well .
I like that they are taking competitor BOGO coupons, but dislike that a price must be specified. For instance, Publix often puts Hellman’s mayonnaise on BOGO, but their price for Hellman’s is $5.29, compared to Walmart’s $3.99. I would like Walmart to match competitors BOGOs, with Walmart prices.
I too am curious regarding how overage toward the basket price will be eliminated from a SNAP purchase. Will review my next food receipt to see what happens.
My cashier at WM today threw a big hissy fit when I tried to use an Athenos Hummus BOGO free coupon. She said they no longer take free internet coupons. I said it wasn’t free…I still had to make a purchase. But she said since it didn’t list an actual price (it only said valid up to $5 something) they wouldn’t accept it. So frustrating!
Target issues Catalina’s. Sometimes it prints as ‘manufacturer coupon’ and other times it prints ‘Target coupon’. No clue how the register decides.
I feel your pain! I had to call the manager over today when the cashier wouldn’t scan my $3.00 Gain coupon (I was buying 2 of the 30 count pack at $1.87). The cashier said it was coupon fraud. Eventually they ruled in my favor and I just had to shrug off the sass.
On the other hand I had a really good experience with a young cashier (they don’t seem to care as much which works in your favor). Her response was “Damn, I need to start using coupons!”.
I went to wal-mart friday and had one of the assistant managers check me out (they got supper busy at the time i was there and the top 4 managers, even the store manager jumped on registers) I was a litle worried about problems with coupons, but he accepted all of them, even the pdf printed from 3m website without any problems. he was even asking me where to find coupons online and to find the deals. I found it too funny!
