i thought i had a money maker with the $7.oo allegra. The cashier said it beeped & would not scan and punched in $5.96. She also stated ” a least you are getting it for free & that’s all that matters “. I purchased 3 and thought i had a little extra cash towards some other items. I am grateful for the “free” but, what could i have done different ( if anything) to get the overage. Thanks for the help.
Same thing happened yesterday to my husband. He told cashier she could not lower coupon and please call a manager over. She did and he confirmed and told her she can not lower coupon….had to allow the overage. They will get 7.00from manufacturer…in your case, they will end up making money. Walmart employees are not very well versed in dealing with coupons. I had a problem in my local store not long ago and the store manager actually called me and assured me if I have any problems in his store have the cashier call for him. He was nice as could be.
You should have fought it!
Next time print walmart’s Coupon policy and highlight the sentence, “If coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase.” I take it along in my coupon binder always 🙂
You can see there policy here:
http://walmartstores.com/7655.aspx
and look under “The following are guidelines and limitations:” to find the sentence i quoted.
Hope this helps
I was just looking at the albertsons ad, and if you price match the allegra (as long as your buying ten) to 4.50 it will be a $2.50 mm!!!
How is this $0.44 each, isn’t it $0.63 each?
Renuzit Super Neutralizer Odor Adjustable – $0.94
B2G1 Renuzit Adjustables air fresheners, max $4.17 exp. 4/8/12 (RP 03/11/12) Total: $.44 each
There was a $1.00/2 coupon that dropped off. I will update the scenario
Thanks Paul. Was it an IP coupon?

I have a question about the mars candy, it says to PM to walgreens at .50 each and its is free at walmart with the $1/2 coupon. Which candy is .50 at walgreens? Single wrapped candy or a bag? I am confused..and new to this lol.
Thanks for the help.
it is the single wrapped
Thank you! I just completed my shopping list and am getting to go…its all i could think about last night!! 🙂
that is why it is a good idea to have the stores price match policy with you. It explains about the overage. If you show it to your cashier, you have a better chance of getting the overage.
Tonight I did my big haul…whoot…but the cashier at Walmart told me that if the coupon doesn’t scan then I can’t use it. I was trying to buy the 12 pack Schick disposable razors they were like…1.97 and I had a con for 1.75 off 2 and another coupon for 1 off 1 I could be wrong on the amounts anyways…I got the 12 pack and it had a bonus of 2 more razors and the coupon wouldn’t scan so she said sorry…so I asked her to take the 3 12 packs of razors off my order…was I wrong in what I thought was the right thing or was she wrong for not taking it?
no they re correct, it must have a scannable bar code. It is right in the policy,
I’m sorry…I said that wrong it would scan but it wouldn’t register the coupon amount so she didn’t take it.
I’m curious about that as well. When the coupon scans but won’t register the amount, is it at their discretion?
