FYI….a lot of people are posting “free” and “overage” on many items we buy at Walmart; HOWEVER, a more accurate approach to these findings is free or cheap…b/c Walmart is NOTORIOUS for taxing on the pre-coupon amount…for example: in your post, you say the cascade 3 packs will give you $0.03 Overage..this is incorrect! To prove this, b/c many people do not pay much attention to detail, go to your local Walmart and ring up just one of them at the $0.97 and then hand them your $1.00/1 coupon…see if the cashier hands you the $0.03 OR..if they ask you to pay a few cents to cover the tax associated with the sale! good luck..i already know from zeroing out a total of $200.00 with coupons – leading to $100.00 in overage and they charged me the $16.00 in tax on a negative balance!!!!! LOL just my two cents worth – for all the bean counters out there who might get frustrated when the numbers don’t line up at check out! thanks for your posts they are super and we really enjoy the savings you help us out with! keep up the good work. 🙂

I understand what you are saying, but it is also correct to say the item is free + overage, yes you will have to pay tax on some items. Every area has a different tax amount I can’t begin to guess what someone might pay in taxes. Some places you do not have tax on food items.
steph says
Yeah I shop in Delaware = no tax which means Free + overage!
Melissa says
Yup, I’m in Delaware too! No tax here 🙂 they pay us to take them.

Where can I find the Cascade 3pks? I’ve been to 2 different walmarts and can’t even find a spot on the shelf for them.
Stephanie says
I found them on the shelf in a basket next to Cascade detergent. I had to really look to find them.
Dawn says
I have found on an endcap

I love getting freebies or some cheapies!! 🙂 I’ve only gotten overage once and that was this last week when I got all the Bic packs, a couple of Scotch tapes, and toothbrushes. I priced matched w/Target’s ad, had coupons for everything and it was good. I ended up with a negative balance and the cashier owed me money. That was nice! It paid for several Supreme Burritos that are on sale at Taco Bell! 😉 But, with the .03. overage, for me, I’ve noticed it goes towards TAX. So, when I get the Cascade trail ones for .97, it’s FREE but NOT tax free. I love this site Paul! It’s one of my fav’s that I love to visit everyday for new posts and your findings for us!! 🙂
