Dollar General is having a Chex Cereal Sale: Buy 2 @ $2.50 Get 1 Free. Price match this @ Walmart for $1.66 a box (must buy 3) The reason this rocks is because now you can use coupons that cover all three boxes. I am buying 6 boxes for my deal, here is how it will work with the Buy 2 Get 1 FREE sale.
Buy 6 Boxes Chex Cereal (<14 oz): $1.66 each ($9.96)
Use 3-$1/2 General Mills Cereal, exp. 11/5/11 (SS 09/25/11 R)
Total: $6.96 for all 6 or $1.16 a Box!

Paul, I have a dumb question. Can we not use coupons at dollar general and save the hassle at walmart?
Paul says
I don’t know what hassle it would be. I don’t know if FG will let you use the coupon on the free item. I am guessing you would only be able to use 2 coupons because at DG 2 of the boxes are free. Besides that , I don’t heart DG I Heart the Mart. There is also the issue of freshness, I don’t shop at dollar general if I can help it.

And I heart party mix over the holidays! Yee ha! Thanks Paul!

How does your WM ring up BOGO sales? Mine usually just takes the price of one & divides it between the two but that would not work on this one.
Paul says
You would just take the price of 2 and divide it by 3. That makes it $1.66 each.

“I dont heart DG …I heart the Mart” thank you for the giggle Paul. You made my day!

Also, walmart has the FREE chex mix flavor packets sitting in boxes near the cereal 🙂 WHOOP!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll be checking that out tomorrow!

Where can I find the dg price so I can print and take to walmart just in case? I had car issues today and did not get papers if it is in there.
Paul says
yes, mine was in the middle of my RP insert
Jello_2001 says
Thanks! I will just take in a print of the ad u posted as back up if needed.

OK. I have just returned from Walmart and to begin with I was surprised to see my Chex priced at $2.28 for 14oz box. So I started out smiling. At checkout it was not until after my cashier quoted almost $10 over my guesstimation that she told me this was her first price match. NO problem. She called over a manager and after a few minutes I walked out of the door with 6 boxes of Chex cereal for $5.08 (@ $.84 a box) thanks to Paul and my coupons!! :<)
Thanks a bunch. I am planning on making a batch of chex mix (oops I forgot and did not see the free seasoning packet) for Thanksgiving and Christmas so this was so timely.
Jello_2001 says
oh! and I did indeed need the ad. They even said they needed to keep it. I did not mind as long as if saved me from unnecessary headache. So I am glad I printed off your post.
Of course, on my way out of the door, I noticed they still had Sunday’s paper displayed. So I returned and purchased one.

I have a question about price matching and using coupons at Walmart. I am fairly new to price matching, and when I went into WM last week to price match an item and use a coupon with it, the cashier said that they could not do both. She stated that I would either have to price match it OR use a coupon on it. I have never heard of this, and I even consulted my coupon policy, but I could not find anything to dispute it. I ended up leaving without it. BUMMER. Can someone clarify? Or maybe just let me know how to handle it next time? Thanks!

Heather I cashier at walmart and you CAN ABSOLUTELY use both on one item. Tell them next time its just like using a coupon at the other store that is running the ad. I still can’t believe that some of these walmart’s are that behind in their policy understanding.
Scott says
That isn’t true. You can do both. I do it ALL the time. Next time someone tells you that, ask for a manager. If a CSM comes over and won’t let you use both, ask for a “member of salaried management”.
