My In-Laws just recently moved to Beijing China for my Father-In-Laws job. It would be a nice feeling to see the familiar logo in a new country. Just proves to me that you can run… but you can’t hide from the The Mart!
I didn’t think that at $1 that was too bad for a bag of brown sugar?
Look at the little kid on the packaging. Seems kinda funny to see a little blond kid. My FIL says that most kids never use diapers and are potty trained VERY young. Seems like a good idea to me!
The prices didn’t seem to be too terribly bad, it worked out to about $2.50 for that bag of Tide.
Have you been to a Walmart in another country? What were the prices and selection like?
Wal Mart on Oahu isn’t technically another country, but it was $8 for a gallon of milk!
There are no walmarts in Manila. But I’m happy to know Walmart’s in Beijing. Keep blogging! ^_ ^
last year i went to china and found myself at home when i walked into all the many walmarts. i backpacked throughout the country and in every major city we stopped in i found a walmart. the hard part was converting the money to see if i was getting a good deal… but everything was so unfamiliar that i wanted to try everything, and it made it all so much more fun to stay in walmart all day. it was a change to see all the labels and packages, like pampers and tide, in chinese characters. another difference is u have to pay for the plastick bags or bring ur own- much better for the environment.
Very interesting!! Thanks for sharing. I enjoy and USE your site everday. We really appreciate you here in “our neck of the woods”.
I went to a Wal-mart in Argentina. The prices depended on what the item was. Some items were more and others were cheaper. The local stuff seemed to always be a good deal.
Love this site!!! Thank you for your hard work! I love this story! Very fun!!!
I have been to Walmart in Germany before. They had to close down all their stores in Germany, because of poor business ;).
