Walmart is the best store on the planet to help the American family Save Money and Live Better, man that sounds familiar. I want to start by saying I don’t work for Walmart or to this point I have not been compensated by Walmart in any way. I simply believe that with Walmarts Everyday Prices, and the ability to Price Match along with using coupons is the best program for saving money, even better than double coupons. ( I haven’t given up yet)
I am going to take you on a 4 day journey to understanding the Walmart Coupon and Ad Match policies like you wrote them yourself. Lets start with some basic information.
What is Ad Matching?
Ad Matching is the program that allows you to use the advertised sales prices at your Walmart’s local competitor stores. Please note that the program is called Ad Matching not Price Matching as it is routinely called. I am going to go through each line and explain it in detail and answer some frequently asked questions at the end.
Our Ad Match Guarantee
We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.
We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
- Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
- Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
- Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
- Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
- For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
1.Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
- Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
Walmart DOES Match Buy One Get One sales as long the price you can buy it for is advertised.
The store I get the most questions about is Publix, this is because of their phenomenal and ridiculous Buy One Get One weekly sales. The wording that Publix uses is “Save Up To”. this simply means that this is the MOST money you are going to save with a free second item. So, whatever price they ist is the HIGHEST price it would be sold for.Your local store may actually be cheaper but you MUST use the price in the ad.
Please note that you are not just matching the BOGO Sale and using the Walmart Price, you must Use the Whole Ad even if the Walmart price is initially cheaper.
2. Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
Simply, the Ad MUST have a price listed for the item you want to match. An Ad that says save 25% or $3.00 off without the actual price cannot be used for Ad Matching.
3. Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
Walmart does reserve the right to ask you for proof that you are a Preferred card shopper.
4. For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
This is probably the most difficult aspect of Ad matching to get right. There are so many varieties of fruits or Vegetables and cuts of meat that it is really easy to get mixed up. Make sure that you are getting the same grade and cut of meat to avoid any issues.
Please feel free to ask any questions you have about this part of the policy and I will do my best to answer them!
Wal-Mart in McAlester, Ok refused to match Wal-greens ad because it stated with card. Could not convince them otherwise.
Tonight, my Walmart refused to price match the Office Max $1, 12pk. of Sharpies. They had no proof why, they just kept saying “we can’t blaaahhh blaahhh.” Calling the manager tomorrow morning. Need help though because I have never price matched.
I’ve visited Walmart recently and wanted to price match some produce to Aldi and/or SaveALot. Walmart near my house (Tampa, FL) does not price match Aldi or SaveALot. I was told by customer service that because the stores (Aldi and SaveALot) are already heavily discounted that Walmart won’t price match. I guess customer service is trying to tell me that Walmart considers Aldi and SaveAlot “closeout or going of out of business” stores? Not sure. Emailed corporate for clarification whether Walmart considers Aldi/SaveALot a competitor or not, got a message to talk to “Store Manager” about it. Still didn’t answer my question and haven’t spoken with store manager yet. We’ll see….
Yes sadly it can be up to the store manager. They obviously don’t know anything about Aldi as it is not a closeout store at all 🙁
Did you know that Walmart started to accept Publix’ bogo ad and you get Walmarts price for that bogo! ? Only in Florida!
