Today we hit Double Digits with Day 10 of Paul’s Great Weight Rollback!! That means we are 1/3 of the way there, how is it going for you! 10 days isn’t a long time in the whole realm of things, but I feel a lot better already. We have 2 days until the next weigh in, I am not sure what it is going to say but that isn’t the most important thing. I’m gonna hit my goal, but there is always a little bump. The most important thing for me is that once I get the weight down, I stay healthy and don’t fall back into bad eating habits.

Starting my detox tomorrow, had a health scare over the weekend and even though I love food my son and husband mean more my goal is to loose 30 lbs yay, lets do this
We’re doing more home made and clean eating than we used to and incorporating more veggies in our meals! Also my daughter is asking for healthy cold lunches at school because of how nasty the school lunches are, so obviously she’s paying attention! 🙂
Four years ago I suffered a horrible fall in my home. As a result I underwent surgery and was bed riden for months. During the time I was down I lost 32 pounds. Once I was back on my feet I vowed I would keep the weight off. I have put 9 pounds back on this past year and I am determined to lose it again. I learned to eat lots of fresh veggies, homemade meals instead of eating out and a lot of walking. Spending months in a wheelchair, then using a walker, then quad cane and regular cane, was not fun. I thank God daily I am able to walk again.
I am going to try to start exercising again this year, the last couple years have been tough with my 35 year old brother having stage 4 colon cancer, and it was in remission, it has moved to his lungs now, chemo starts again next week, and now my best friend has breast cancer. I am going to try to get in shape so I can help all I can.
I’ve tried so many different plans to try to loose weight. I finally joined weight watchers and it is working. I am learning what to eat as well as change my psychological thinking about food. I love it. Congratulations on your weight loss, I wish you continued success!
After all these years of putting the kids and hubby first I am finally carving out time to take car of myself
My children have joined me in working out and we are all eating healthier.
Your weight loss is encouraging! I’ve lost seven pounds and it feels so great! Fortunately we live far from grocery stores and fast food. Healthy choices make us all feel better. Keep up the great work!! = )
Get my kids and I to eat more fresh foods than foods with preserves.
I am currently making small easy changes in my diet. My diet is terrible. I’m drinking my 8 glasses of water a day, and making a point to eat at least 1 fruit or serving of veggies per meal. And I can only have ice cream once a week. That’s going to be the hard one.
On another note, thank your wife for her wonderful taco soup recipe. I made it the other night. I added some of the Minute rice quinoa, brown, red, and wild rice mix to it. Delicious! It made me remember how much I love beans, and a quick easy meal to use them in!
I am going for a new “stress free me” I spend more time and sleepless night worrying about everything that needs to be done instead of just stopping once in a while to smell the roses and see whats right in front of me that means more 🙂
Teach you children well, the song says it all.
I say good job young man. We have been eating healthier here. My grandson lives with me and had enough. He has a small room so had to get a new desk. Does some extreme workout, wow this kid looks great, he has lost so many sizes. And he got all A’s for the semester, was worried last semester, didn’t do too good worried about his grant and all. He just figured it all out the weight, the going ot the libraby to study. You just do what you have to. He has us all eating healthier. I think about what I will cook or even buy because of him. Good job on the 10lbs but keep going if a kid can do this you can too. Well he turned 21 today so just my kid and a good one.
my goal is to drop 36 pounds by my b-day(March 21st) I’m SO excited…I’ve lost 6 pounds
I want myself and my household to eat better. Here’s to a healthier family!
My husband and I will be starting our diet tomorrow! We really want to have children and have been trying for a year and no luck. We are both going to push and motivate eachother to reach our goal. Hoping that this time we have some success and potentially a baby!!
I have made life long changes in eating healthier and to keep moving! I do a lot of power walking to help burn off the calories. Finding out that I am losing by eating more, yes I said more, of the healthier choices in fruits and vegetables. This is doable! Enjoying life a lot more!
10 pounds in the first weigh-in!??? First I was impressed to see a man actually talking about his weight, then blogging about it on the Internet and reporting back. Now… that’s serious accountability! 10 pounds in 1 week should be motivation…. can you imagine that in 5 weeks you could be 50 pounds down. AWESOME! You should reread these posts, keep an old pair of pants you wore at the start of this all and brag, brag, brag. Way to go Paul!
Okay so I was so excited for you, I forgot to tell you what I was doing to be healthier! We just found out we are pregnant with baby #5 so for me drinking more water and actually wearing a better maternity wardrobe is what i am doing. I threw away almost all my old shabby maternity clothes, so here’s to being really excited to be pregnant again and dressing like it!
After reading about your Great Weight Rollback I took your advice and started also. I however did not see the post until a few days after you started it. I am now on day 5 and have lost 3 pounds. And I am trying to cut the soda out all together. It has only been 5 days but so far so good. Thanks so much Paul for being the inspiration I needed to get my butt in gear and get it going. Best of luck to you! YOU GOT THIS!!!!
My goal this year is to give back. We have started to set aside money and time to giving back. Also, trying to teach my 9 year old that giving back in important and he is learning that he contributes to the community. We are volunteering more 🙂 Its a great new year!!
I am going to organize the bedroom and dust it– it’s getting to be hoarders central in there. And read more magazines….so I can give them to a friend.
I’ve decided to keep track of my Savings this year. Every trip I make shopping I’m writing down my Price Match savings, Coupon Savings, Ibotta savings and adding them up at the end of the year. Just in the first few weeks I’ve saved over 50 bucks! Save money so I can have money to buy other things I need.. Can’t go wrong with that. A $10 walmart gift card would add to those savings! GL with the rest of your weight loss. I lost 70 lbs 4 years ago and have maintained a healthy weight ever since~
I am trying to get my diabetes under control. The diet is not working , YET, its is hard to get healthy foods due to cost, i am trying it only been 4 months since i found out i have to take shots but i am working on it
Way to go Paul on your weight loss. I have completely changed our lifestyle. We are a family of 6 and we no longer eat any processed foods and eat organic fruits and vegetables when we can. Also, I only buy organic meat and lunch meat that doesn’t have the nitrates and antibiotics added. My 13 yr old daughter was pushing 180 lbs and was always crying because she was heavier than all of us. I can say now that she has lost a total of 13 lbs since the 1st of November. It’s hard at times but we have to do it!
Focusing on better habits and self happiness. ♡
I’ve been cooking more for myself at home. That way, I have total control over what goes in each dish and can make it as healthy (or indulgent) as I want. So far I’ve lost close to 5 pounds, and I feel a little bit more energetic!
I have started working out after 5 months! I found LISA on facebook and she gives real time workouts that will change your life! Soon she will start a 30 day challenge that she posts everyday and gives you the motivation to want to look your best! You should really jump on board! All you need is your living room!
BEST FREEE PERSONAL TRAINER EVER!

I’m doing a few things to make my life better. First I’m taking some “me time.” I’m waking up at 5 am to get some exercise in, a cup of tea, and read. This gives me time to relax and focus on my kids when they get up for school. Second my son and I are starting to work out together, just small things like walking. Last I’m building extra time into my schedule to reduce the stress it puts on my family when we’re in a hurry.
I Have started to going for run in the parks and started eating more healthy. FInally started to get sometime for myside since I got married 🙂 yay
Eating more Beans, Good for my cholesterol, my diabetes, and my wallet.
My goal for this year is somewhat vague but touches all areas of my life. I was tired of being just a surface person, of doing things halfway, of not giving it my all. Sleepwalking through life is not an option anymore. So far what I’ve done toward this is make a schedule for housework and stick to it, plan better meals for my family and cook so that we don’t spend money on eating out and that we have a healthier diet, set up a budget that provides for saving and tithing instead of just spending, take time out for friends and family, and take better care of my health. Once I decided to change my attitude, everything seemed to snowball from that–the more positive changes I make, the more I want to make. I can’t wait to see what this year holds and what can be accomplished! Happy New Year and congratulations on your dieting success–you’re doing great! 🙂 Also, thanks for all of the great work you do for this website. You are helping so many people make their lives better and are a blessing to all of us. Thanks!
My goal is to give up Coke and just eat healthier! I want to feel better and have more energy! Also want to get more sleep not sure if that is gonna happen though:)
Congrats Paul. Are you doing a low carb diet of sorts? I lost 45lbs on low carb after the baby.
In two weeks I will be able to weight train and workout again. During the holidays I had emergency surgery for ruptured appendix.
Lucky to be alive anyhow I lost tons of muscle from the surgery and not being able to eat for 5 days. So that is my goal to gain back the 10lbs of muscle and lost the 8lbs of fat I gained. So I am anxiously awaiting two more weeks to pass.
Keep at It Paul, you will do it and at the end of the weight loss journey you will have a renewed vitality.
My son and I are going to start going to the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am trying to cut out sweets, but it is really hard!!! And I have stop drinking pop.
My goal is to give up sodas and eat vegan for 1 week out of every month.
Congratulations on your weight loss! That’s great! I’ve started cooking more at home instead of eating out. I’m trying to get more vegetables into my family’s diet.
My toddler is a great example to me. Loves to be active and responds well to the fruits and veggies I give her. I hope to use her as a role model and reinforce her good habits. We are moving to a house with a backyard and I plan to incorporate outside play for both of us!
I’m doing a 30 day green smoothie challenge to get more fruits and veggies into my diet. I’m also doing a weight loss challenge with friends in an effort to lose some weight this year and live a healthier lifestyle.
Hi Paul, great job on the 10lbs!! I will be 30 in 6 months. My goal is to lose 30lbs by my 30th birthday. I’m a SAHM and really let myself go after the birth of our last child. She’s almost four now so I no longer can say I just had a baby lol. On 1/7 I started doing Zumba on our wii 30-45 minutes a day. I am also using an awesome app called Noom to count calories for me and keep tract of my workouts and calories burnt. I’m loving that app. Tomorrow is my one week weigh in but I couldn’t wait. Today I’m down only two lbs but feeling better about myself. Keep up the good work!!
I plan on including my daughter in my resolution to eat better and exercise more. I care so much about her I oftentimes put myself last and never get to doing the things I want to do for me. Now that she is almost 4 she’s able to help me make heathy snacks and do yoga with me. If she enjoys it, I should have no trouble finding the motivation to stick to it. She will help motivate me lol.
Great work! My goal is to start working out six days a week. I was doing great before the business of Christmas and New Years so now I’m focusing on getting back into it to feel better and have more confidence.
My wieght loss goal is to loose 50lbs. So far I’ve only lost five lbs, through eating habits, and this week I’m going to purchase a gym membership for my local gym. I’m excited to see how much I will lose and if I’ll make my goal this year. I’ve been overweight my whole life, and and I hope that this year I can make a change. 🙂
I’m so tired of being tired!! I have been reading your progess. You have encouraged me to finally do something about myself. I am in day 2 of my 7 day cleanse. I would like to lose about 40 pounds, but my main goal is to just feel better and have more engery. Keep up the good work!
My goal last year was to lose 40 lbs. and get back to the “skinny me” that I was before I had 4 kids. My report is that I succeeded— 40 lbs. gone! My only regret— that I didn’t do it sooner! It feels so good everyday to be happy with my weight. I now love exercises and that helps me to eat healthy. Good luck everybody!
My goals are to save more money and lose weight.I’ve started by moving more and eating less and making more things homemade like washing detergent and shower gel.I’ve lost 4lbs so far.
i have started eating my cheerios again (literally, i dropped my cholesterol 25 pts in 3 months once just by that change alone) and trying to eat as little sugar as possible. walking as much as i can weather permitting, otherwise it’s dancing with my daughter in the living room for exercise.
That’s great Paul! Losing 10 pounds in 10 days must feel incredible and I would sure be happy with those results! This year, I plan to take my health back in control. I want to feel like I used to and be confident about my body and lifestyle. I am going to give up junk food and try to cook all my food and go out to eat out less. This way, my body gets a healthy meal and my wallet stays in its pocket. I want to workout with my son and encourage him to have a healthy lifestyle and have more bonding time with him. Thanks for all the hard work you do and keep it up! (:
As a PE teacher, I’ve been working on practicing what I preach! I’ve been eating more leafy green vegetables and making sure I get my heart rate up for at least 30min 4 days a week. It is a struggle most days after teaching 250 students a day, but I realize, I too am important!
I have started to exercise daily because I want to get fit
I am doing 30 days shred and having slimfast for breakfast, only until I can think of something healthier for breakfast and having a small lunch and still having what I normally eat for dinner right now. Once I get a job and my own place I will be having healthier dinners as well. I also spend quite a bit on my time chasing a hyper 2 year old around the house 🙂 that counts for something right?
I have also cut back on a bottle and a half of pop a day, I now only drink about half a bottle per day. And started drinking 2-4 cups of water. I didn’t drink water before starting this weightloss journey as I really don’t like the taste but ice cold I can handle it.
Best of luck on your journey, sounds like it’s going great! My husband, children and I, all have a bet going on to see who can lose the most body fat by the end of the month. Our kids are little so they are having a bit of a hard time eating “healthy”. He and I have joined the gym and are getting up every morning at 5:30…ugh! I also signed up for a real estate class – this is the first time in 12 years that all of my children are in school full time, so I can finally do something for myself:)
Reading “Plan D” by Sherri Shepherd about Diabetes. Have it. Had it for 2 years and have ignored it. Time to take care of myself for MYSELF and my family. Getting serious about it now. To sum it up: Tired of being Tired, LOL.
I have been doing the Paleo plan now for 4 weeks and as of today I hit my 10lb lose, It has been tough but as long as I plan my meals I do a lot better. The Paleo plan is not just for weight lose but to also be healthier I am hoping to lose a total of 40lb and I hope it helps me with my MS.
I have family members who go crazy doing different kinds of diets who stop and give up when they don’t see any results. As per my family, We all decided that we would all eat healthy meals and that we would exercise every day even though if its just walking. We are so excited to get back to a healthy and active life style!!!
I’m eating healthier and working out to make myself better
I found a great app it is called Noom Coach it helps with weight loss. It tells you how many calories to eat and you can scan foods and it records your calories. Great Job so far!
I am walking around the block and drinking more water to flush out that nasty FAT! LOL!!
To make life better for myself, I am cleaning house–literally! Armed with industrial-sized trash bags, I have been going through my kids’ and husband’s stuff and tossing things out! I feel stifled and claustrophobic around too much clutter. It might sound crazy, but I really do feel as if I can breathe better in a clutter-free space! So, I am creating that space for myself.
Congrats on the first 10 days, and 10 pounds!! The coupon matchups you do are a huge help for planning shopping trips, but hearing you go through this diet / lifestyle change is really inspiring! Hoping we can try the same challenge in our house before our racing season starts in April!
I am trying to be positive about my health because I am disabled, I will eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and drink almond milk. OOOOH so good!
I would love to win! I love your site!
Oh wow! Congrats!!!!!!!!! My goal for the new year is to eat healtheir on a budget! And, I wanted to thank you for all the great deals you find to help the budget so that I can spend more to get some items such as leaner cuts of meat! Last year I always had to buy the cheapest hamburger due to our tight tight budget! But with the coupon shopping and deals…I have been able to save in other areas…and buy the more expensive lean cuts of meat! So, thank you so much for that!!!!!!!!! I know it will be a much healthier year in 2014 thanks to finding your website! 🙂
We’re trying to eat more fish! Actually bought some wild caught salmon at Walmart yesterday!
There are all kinds of things I really intend to do, but I hope I end up following through on some of them anyway! Lose weight (of course), drink more water, drink less soda, walk more, eat less.
