  10. I store my cans in order from oldest to newest. I rotate them up every time I go shopping. I have a pantry cabinet and a cupboard I store them in. It’s hard sometimes because some of the cans do not stack well, but I make it work. These would be so great to win because then I wouldn’t have to fill up my cupboards with stacking cans and missing an expired date on a can!   12. Right now I just stack my cans on top of each other in my cabinets and I have some shelves in my laundry room where I stack cans on top of each other. These look awesome and am definitely thinking of trying. I would love to see my cans better organized than the way they are now.

  16. Well, I am using a small 3-shelf book shelf (don’t ask where I put the books!) and the top too! And then there is the cardboard box on the floor beside it with a note taped to the first can “extras in bottom drawer of kitchen cabinet” so Hon knows where he can get more!!!   17. We’ve got a harvest 51 I wish we could have fit the 72 but the ceiling didn’t fit. So it obviously doesn’t fit all of our cans and we’ve got stuff stacked everywhere! I would love to get some of these!

  21. I use a permanent marker to put the month and year of purchase on the tops of cans so I know what to use first. I have a lazy susan in my two lower corner cabinets and use these for lots of canned good storage. I put my stock pile in cut off boxes and stack them in my laundry room.   25. I organize my can’s by category in a two door, four shelf cabinet I purchased to free stand in my kitchen! All soups, vegetables, meats, etc… are all together, so when I need a certain item, I know where to look!

  92. I store my cans in plastic crates at the bottom of my pantry, stacked by category (soups, veggies, tomato products, etc.). It works fine, though I seem to spend time moving stacks around every time I find a good deal and bring home a few new cans.

    I do love the idea of the Pantry Consolidator. It would make it easier to follow the “FIFO” (first-in-first-out) method of rotating inventory and help me to use up the cans I already have before it turns into the can of lonely-old-forgotten-and-outdated-in-the-dark-recesses-of-the-pantry.

  98. Right now I just have my cans sorted on different shelves in my pantry. In order to fit all of them inside some are stacked which is not a very good systm. I really need to take some time to reorganize them because it is quite difficult to see what we are running low on.

  132. I use the “stack and rotate” method…which is time consuming. You have to pull all of your canned goods forward to add all the new stuff to the back to ensure you use the oldest stuff first. I’ve been looking at these organizers and think they are a fantastic idea! Right now I keep most of my stuff on a shelving unit in my garage, and some stuff in my indoor pantry (and I have a pretty big stockpile already with little room left).   325. I store my cans in the cabinets. I have the cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling, so I really can’t put anything I am going to use up that high. The can holder would be really nice to have in the cabinet so the cans wouldn’t fall over since I have to stack them on top of each other.

    I just went and “liked” MyLitter and I do believe I am going to LOVE it as well.

    As for how I store my stockpile…. OMG! All my items are stacked and catagorized by item ALL my cabinets in my kitchen (I have tons of cabinets, which I thought was plenty when I bought my house…. WRONG! I Need way more for my can goods alone), then we had to add shelves to every wall from floor to ceiling in the laundry room (thank goodness it is a very large laundry room) to hold even more stockpile. I have stockpiled paper goods in my walk-in closet in my bedroom (which is also where my deep freezer is).

  341. I am one of the biggest neat freaks ever so I cannot stand for my cabinets to be disorganized. Our kitchen is the only room we haven’t redone yet in our house, so we currently only have 1 wall that has any cabinets I can use to store stuff in. I have all of my canned food stacked up in neat rows in the cabinets above my sink, but there isn’t enough room to add a lot of variety.   398. I’ve been following your blog for some time now, and it has been very helpful! I try to store my cans in an overful freestanding white cabinet in the corner of my kitchen. I do my best to rotate and payattention to what is in there, even though it is hard when you just shove it in where ever it fits. Something like this would be very helpful in saving me money for my family because I would never have to get rid of something because of an expired date. And nothing saves money better than not wasting what you already have!!

Right now I take an old 12 pack pepsi can, cut a hole in the back of the top panel so I can drop cans down in it and then pull them out of the front of the box (where your pepsi would come from). It’s tacky, but it’s frugal AND it keeps my cans of soup “rotated” so I’m not grabbing the newest ones first.

  408. Back in February we moved from a 1400 Sq Ft house with a huge kitchen and pantry to about a 900 sq. ft. home that doesn’t have a pantry and barely has cabinets, in fact it has so little cabinets i actually have my pots and pans stored in the linen closet in the bathroom!
    I have one “cabinet” that i have all of my cans in stacked about 8-10 deep and sometimes as many as 4 high. I have no idea whats at the back of that cabinet and even when i “organize” them, i still have no clue whats at the back:o/

  766. In the small apartment that I live in, I have had to buy 2 more portable pantries (3’x5′) to store my canned items.

    I’m always into organizational items, and have actually looked for these everywhere local, I found one, but tax and all it was $15. Just a small coated metal one I have in the fridge. Lately I’ve been stocking up on canned soups and canned pastas for winter, leaving me little room for anything else. With my stockpile feeding 4 different families, it sure would help to have a little more organization. 🙂

  939. right now i have then stored in 4 differant locations, depending on the type of can depents where it gets stored (soup, veggie, fruit, or other) when i buy more i reorganize the cans and place new ones behind the old ones…not a very good system but i only have to do this once every few months when i replenish the stockpile.     I love your site, learned so much and check it daily. Right now, I store my stockpile on some metal shelving. It’s not very convenient since its hard to stack and keep rotating everything but its all I can do right now. I do have a tip that I saw on some organizing site, can’t remember where. To organize cans they used a magazine file like this one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rolodex-Nestable-Rolled-Mesh-Steel-Jumbo-Magazine-File-Black/14916663

    Rather than stand it upright they layed it on a shelf the long way. Then they added a straightened bobby pin across the front to keep the cans from rolling out. Then they loaded it with cans and said it would not only hold more cans in a smaller space vs stacking but everytime you took a can out the next one would slide down. Not sure how well it works as I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but thought I’d share in case anyone else wants to try it.   1195. Currently, because I live in a one bedroom apartment, my pantry (that won’t fit in my “pantry”) is stored under my hanging clothes in the bedroom closet. I have the 5-shelf wire shelving units broken down into two shelves each. My canned goods (and more!) are organized as if you would find them in the store, with the oldest in the front and new ones in the back. We try to write the date of purchase on top of the cans (mo/yr) so that we know which ones are the oldest.
    When I had my house, my 3rd bedroom was my “pantry”!!!

  1354. Thanks for giving these away to some of your lucky subscribers! I hope I get to be one of them! This will work great in my kitchen, which could use a revamp of my storage solutions. I am limited to 2 cabinets (double door size) for my non-perishable goods, and we don’t have a pantry. I have a great stock pile right now (thanks to blogs like yours who help me keep track of the best deals!!) and I line them up by like items, back to front. It’s not the best system and I have to double stack a lot of items (2 types per row) when I run out of width to keep items separated. Having one of these would be a great space saver for me! I love the idea of storing the canned soda too – we buy a lot of that and end up filling crisper drawers and the door in the fridge with pop, but I hate that it gets knocked over often and shaken up. One of these is a great solution for that issue too!

As of right now, my can goods are stacked in rows. the only downside to this is, they are lined up just right that if i touch one just right they would all come crashing down around me, so it makes for an interestion show when i have to add new cans to the pile.     My current way to store cans is to put them wherever they fit…and believe me when I say, it’s a disorganized mess. I live in an apartment where space is very limited. I have a kitchen closet where I have three of the plastic four shelf things. I can only put cans on the bottom shelves…if I try to put them on any other shelf, the shelf bends down in the middle. Ugh. I need a better system 🙂

However I am having issues with the cans falling over and making a mess with the next line of can goods.   1616. I so love Facebook profile and check it everyday as well as your blog. I also love MyLitter on facebook and her blog. Ya were great on the show, too. I now temporarily have them on my diningroom floor because I ran out of space in the pantry. Since some are not all the same size I can’t really stack them. Especially the kids Chef Boyardee that I got for .14 cents a can and purchased 30 of them before my coupon expired. So the organizer would really and I do mean really help me out.
