I found Almay eye makeup remover for $1.14 each today, Nice overage
Could not purchase the deodorant, coupon would not scan. A manager looked at the coupon and said that it can not be used on the almay deodorant.
I found the 1.14 eye make up remover. They refused to scan the coupon..I was so mad.
it is a trial size, at least that is what the tag on the shelf says.
I went back To the self check out and the scanner accepted the coupon. I just don’t understand why they refused to see if it would even scan in the first place.
What happened to your overage then? the coupon is USD5 and 2 items would cost around 2.30 ? were you able to get the overage? thanks
it applied to the rest of her purchase, at least that is what I would think.
Got 2 Almay $5/2 coupons but walmart manager/supervisor didn’t accept them when I tried to purchase a trial/travel size make-up remover. I flipped the coupons many times to see if there was a note there that specifically excludes trial/travel size but there was none.
In the bottom right hand corner of the coupon it says excludes trial/travel sizes.
I had success the second time with the coupons with the makeup remover. The cashier would not scan the coupon, she immediately assumed that something was wrong with the coupon . I asked her twice to just scan it and go from there, she would not and went and got a manager. The manager read the coupon and said that I must buy two cosmetic products and include the makeup remover in order to use the coupon. I told her that she was not understanding what the coupon was stating. Again ,I asked for them to just scan it to see what happens. The manager said it would not scan, but it did, then she said that my second coupon would not scan, and it did. So she looked confused and walked away and I finished up my purchases. I am talking with a store manager tomorrow to make them aware of my horrible customer service tonight.
I emailed Almay and I was told that they don’t consider deodorant as a cosmetic product so I can’t use the $5 coupon towards it. I just wanted to make sure so I won’t have a problem in the register because I hate delays. Hope this helps. Try checking out walgreens I heard that by next week their Almay products would be in sale and also CVS.
RC, I can appreciate that someone in marketing doesn’t consider it a cosmetic, but the FDA does and they are a multi billion dollar company. They can easily exclude it if they wanted to. I totally get that you don’t want a hold up, but they do not get to redefine what a cosmetic is. I also know that the coupon works. It simply prompts for verification.

Paul Ivanovsky, yes I know that FDA considered deodorant as a cosmetic product but what can we do if the stores don’t want to accept it and reject our coupons. Should we email the FDA about it maybe they could do something about it? 🙂
no, the coupon scans, just go do the deal. pull that link up on your phone if the manager gives you grief. I have had several people do it at the self check out registers. just don’t try to get cash back, use the overage on other items.
I have to agree with RC… It’s the manufacturer’s coupon so wouldn’t they get to decide what is considered ‘cosmetic’ or not I mean it is a MANUFACTURE coupon by the manufacturer. Especially if it isn’t clear. I wouldn’t argue just to get some overage back, besides there’s plenty other items you can get overage for this week at walmart! I printed 4 of the almay coupons and if it won’t work at self service I’m using my other coupons to apply the overage on the rest of my purchase.
I am not forcing you to use the coupon. If you aren’t comfortable, then by all means skip the deal. As for your question, No. They don’t get to decide what is or isn’t a cosmetic. That is a huge category and is in fact defined by the FDA, plus the coupon scanned for me, which means that they do count it as a cosmetic in the coding. If they want to exclude items they are more than welcome to do that. This isn’t the first time this coupon has come out and talking to a customer service rep doesn’t count as the company defining what the word cosmetic means.
Paul Ivanovsky, thanks I’m gonna try it out this weekend 🙂
I tried the deodorants at self checkouts, and they wouldn’t scan. Paul, are you saying if I go to a cashier it will scan? Thanks!
Also, where would one find the $1.14 makeup remover?
The $1.14 make up remover is considered a trial size at Walmart.
If the coupon doesn’t state that trial/travel size is excluded, it means I can purchase the trial/trave size right? Thanks
Yes
Its normally next to the regular size eye makeup remover
I had success earlier today using the coupon. I used with 2 of the trail sizes of makeup remover at 1.14 a pop even though the coupon excluded trial sizes. Used self checkout.
thanks for the Tip Paul.

Has anyone tried calling Walmart Corporate? The cashier I had today gave me a very hard time and didnt know the difference from a transaction and purchase, she argued with me when I explained the difference from the two so to please her I had to do different transactions for every coupon that said “one item per purchase” good grief! What put the icing on the cake was when neither she nor the CSM would accept my Almay coupon bc they said it cant be used on deodorant! I told them both that FDA states that deodorant is a cosmetic and ive used the coupon there before with NO problems and even had another csm to allow it, the CSM said well I dont know who allowed it but I am NOT going to allow it she was VERY RUDE. Someone advised me to call corporate..
used 2 of these coupons today for the 1.14 make remover!!!! 5.44 overage, i bought other things to eat the overage and went through self check had no problems
I’ve seen coupon bloggers post about this coupon being OK to use on the deodorant because according to the bloggers on the FDA Q&A site, deodorants are considered cosmetic….it does say that and I printed a copy of that. I also found a page on almayDOTcom that lists deodorant/antiperspirant on their Formulary and Cosmetic Guide….just google “almay formulary” I wanted to know if Almay considered it a cosmetic so I called their 800 number. I mentioned the FDA site and Almay’s Formulary and Cosmetic Guide to the representative. She asked if I was calling about a coupon, I mentioned this coupon, she said that it was up to the store if they allow it. I mentioned the store allowed me to use one coupon, the rep said that’s great if they allowed it. However, I personally still wanted some sort of confirmation that deodorants are considered cosmetics by Almay because I want the coupon to be used correctly. I was put on hold and the rep read a Revlon statement, which is according to her is Almay’s parent company, that Revlon doesn’t consider deodorant a cosmetic. So, I am confused.
