In case you are like me and rarely check your email (except for the ones from me of course) you haven’t seen the news that came out today about the discontinuation of the Savings Club from Coupons.com. I have to say this is not a total shock to me. I didn’t think the value was there for the cost, they did have some nice coupons but it just didn’t seem to catch on. All the details are listed below:
May 30, 2013
An Important Update on the Coupons.com Savings Club
Dear Valued Savings Club Member,
We’ve made a decision to discontinue the Coupons.com Savings Club premium subscription program and want to share with you details about that decision and how it affects your current membership.
After July 10, 2013, premium Savings Club coupons will no longer be available when you log in to Coupons.com.
- Starting now and through July 10, 2013 (more than a month), you will continue to have access when logged in to clip and print premium Savings Club coupons.
- Effective immediately, we are halting any and all billings, so you won’t be charged again. You will be receiving a separate email notice from either TrialPay or Recurly (our payment processors) stating that your subscription with them has been canceled – but you will still be able to get premium Savings Club coupons through July 10, 2013.
- For annual subscribers, we are refunding to you within 1 week the pro rata, remaining portion of your last payment as of May 30, 2013. For example, if there are 6 of 12 months left on your subscription (half) as of today, we’ll be crediting your credit card with half of your $30 subscription fee.
I think they handled every issue that could come up with canceling a program like this. What did you think? Are you happy to see it go? Sad? or just thinking “Who Cares?”
Ironically, I just called my credit card company yesterday and told them to block any future payments to TrialPay. I also sent an email to support@coupons.com requesting that when it is time to renew my annual subscription (next February) that I did not want that to occur. While $30 a year isn’t a huge amount, I don’t think I was getting what I had hoped would be higher value coupons from the Savings Club. I will continue to use coupons.com (and all of the other coupon sites as well) because to does significantly help reduce our food bill each shopping trip.
Thanks for the info, Paul.
Thank you for the information. I will check my email, because I did sign up for the free for one year and I was paying the $3.00 per month. Oh well.
I was still on the free for a year plan with the Savings Club. I am glad it was free because the coupons were not that great. If they had put some really great high discount coupons in it, it would have done well, but they didn’t. Last month they had a coupon in the savings club that was the same coupon for anyone, no difference in savings. I caught that happening here and there. Glad I never paid for it!
I finally got around to cancelling them last week. I don’t think it was worth $3 a month.
I dont have any idea what savings club is, and I’ve never been asked to pay a fee on coupons.com.
