What Can I Price Match at Walmart? Walmart Holiday Price Match Policy 2013

It’s Holiday Season and that means that saving money however you can needs to be kicked into high gear. One of the best ways I know to save money is to use the Walmart Holiday Price Match Policy. The Ad Match is a great way to save money and time during the holiday season, it ends December 24. I get a lot of questions this time of year about what you can and can’t do. I am going to answer some of the most frequently asked questions that I get. Have any more questions? Fire Away!!

Q: If I buy something and it goes on sale will Walmart price match that?
A: YES!!! You will receive the difference in the form of a Walmart Gift Card.

Q: Can I Price Match Something that I put on Layaway?
A: YES!!! If something goes on sale after you have put it on layaway you can bring the ad in and they will give you the difference in the form of a gift card. You can then use this to make a payment or use at your convenience. There are a few exceptions, so keep reading!

Q: Can I Price Match Black Friday Sale Items?
A: As of right now the answer is NO. Walmart has excluded the following from what it will Ad Match this Holiday Season: Thanksgiving Day Ad Sales, Black Friday Ads and basically any gimmick or gift card promotions. This is a bit of a change from last year, in the past you were able to Price Match all Black Friday Ads so long as you made your purchases during the dates and times specified in the ad. Hopefully they change that back!

Q: Can I Price Match Online Prices at Walmart?
A: YES!!! Here are the guidelines, the online store should have a brick and mortar location presence in your area. That would include stores like Target, Best Buy, K Mart, Toys R Us etc. Last year I was able to Price Match Amazon if it was delivered by Amazon but I have been told that is not the case this year. My manager will even price match Walmart.com! I imagine this will be at your managers discretion.

Note: This is something that my manager is willing to do ALL YEAR long!

Price Matching at Walmart is a killer way to save some money! PRINT THIS and take it with you!

We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.

We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*

Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
- Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price
Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad
For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)

*The following are guidelines and limitations:

We will match any local competitor’s advertised price.
We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor’s ad.
Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)

We do not match the price in the following types of competitor ads:

Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price
- example: “Buy [item A] to get [item B] for $C”
Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get free product
- example: “Buy both [items A & B] to get [item C] for free”
Items that require a purchase to get a competitors’ gift card
- example: “Buy [item A] to get a $B gift card

Going out of business or closeout prices
Percentage off

We do not honor:

Ads when the actual price for items cannot be determined

Basically, if you take your local grocery store ad and see a great deal on Blue Bell ice cream priced at $3 a 1/2 gallon, Walmart has it for $6 you can take your local ad and when you check out show them the price and they will override their register to give you the cheaper price. It has to be a normal sale price, no weird sales, B1G1 free that don’t state the price or anything like that.

Price matching alone can save you a ton of money at Walmart. Why price match? Because I don’t want to run all over the city to different stores to get the good deals, I would rather just pick it up all in one place!

Now I have found that when you load your groceries onto the belt at Walmart you HAVE to have your ad ready, when they get to that item you must give them the competitors ad RIGHT THEN so they can change the price. If you wait until they are done ringing you up to show them the price match they will not go back and change the prices. Just a tip!

5 Steps to Successful Price-Matching at Walmart:

Check the other grocery stores sales ad’s for great deals. Make a list of the items and prices. Check to see what coupons you have or can print to match up with these sales. Check electronics, I have saved HUGE this way at Walmart!
Take a look at the price matching policy. They will not do B1G1 free sales that do not have a stated price, but they will do 2 for $4 or 2/$4. They will also NOT do % off, like 25% off all soda.
Go shopping! Bring your other store ad’s with you. Most will require that you have them. Don’t cut them up, they will need to verify the dates on them. You can only use a current ad.
I always place items that I am NOT price matching on the belt first. Then I place my items that I am price matching and lay the ad on top of them so I don’t forget… or get distracted by children! I inform the cashier that I am price matching and show them the ad. I saw a woman once that had placed sticky notes on her items, the cashier LOVED her! I don’t have that kind of time, but it was a good idea!
