$.50 Off Auntie Annies Baking Kit. I have told you before that I have a HUGE weakness for fresh baked pretzels. I have already put my request in for Super Bowl Sunday and my beautiful wife says they are definitely on the menu! Below is the recipe to Tiffany’s magic Pretzels. I am also a really big fan of Auntie Annie’s pretzels and coupons so this is a great alternative if you aren’t feeling brave.
Either way add some mustard or some cheese sauce and you are in heaven!
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center; add the oil and yeast mixture. Mix and form into a dough. If the mixture is dry, add one or two tablespoons of water. Knead the dough until smooth, about 7 to 8 minutes. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
My spiffy oven has a bread proof setting so I used that. Took a little less than an hour but doubled.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). In a large bowl, dissolve baking soda in hot water.
- When risen, turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and twist into a pretzel shape. Once all of the dough is all shaped, dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution and place on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with kosher salt.
Now is when you recruit the help. My Sister (who destroyed my Kitchen Aid) volunteered to teach the girls how to make a pretzel. Actually they taught her…
Bake in preheated oven for 8 minutes, until browned.
They turned out AMAZING! Can you smell them now? We took some and dipped them in the water/baking soda mixture, and added cinnamon and sugar to them and they were awesome also!

Can you freeze the pretzel dough ?
I would make a whole batch and freeze them. Then you can warm them as you eat and you won’t have to worry about them going bad. I do this with fresh baked bread from the grocery store too. Plus this way you have a fresh pretzel without having to wait for them to bake. Hope this helps!
I never made homemade pretzels before and these look great. Thanks for the recipe!
I am so excited about this recipe. I actually have all the ingredients on hand and I was actually trying to think of an activity for the kids on this yechy, rainy/snowy/sleeting day! Thanks!
This is going to be a great project with the grandkids. We make a treat every Sunday afternoon. I send half of them home with them (or if we have a flop, all of them!). They will eat anything they cook. The only problem I see in the pictures is that I could never cook in a white shirt!! HA!
These look delicious!! I’m going to give it a try this afternoon. I’m always on the hunt for recipes like this. Thank you thank you thank you!
I agree. These look great and yummy!! The recipe is actually easy enough for me. My 3 year old daughter and I just finished the first half of the recipe and are cleaning up now to wait to knead, form the pretzel and bake. . So far so good. This was a great recipe for some mommy and daughter time!!!! If they come out as good as I’m hoping….we might share with the grandparents tonight. 🙂 Thanks for a great recipe.
