Paul,
I normally have good experiences at Walmart; however tonight was the exception – I don’t usually profile, but I had a 50+ cashier who was horrible. With husband and kids in tow, I proceeded to stock up on some items for my pantry/freezer – State Fair corn dogs (mfg cpn), Trial size Tide and several high dollar internet coupons (Visine, ICBINB, etc). I was subjected to scrutiny of EVERY coupon, which I patiently waited as the cashier printed a journal and matched every coupon to every item on my list (I had $174 in merchandise, so no small feat). She then proceeded to review 46 pages of printed fraudulent coupons, citing that she would get ‘written up’ if she accepted one. I was patiently waiting as she didn’t review it once, or twice, but EVERY time she had an internet coupon…then walked away to grab some additional printouts. None were in alpha order, was the two people behind me got impatient and I found myself apologizing for their delay…25 minutes later (as my corn dogs and other items unthawed), she came to my Tide coupons (rung up last) and they beeped…and waited for a CSM (who was not happy to be called from the back ofc). She stated she could not accept the coupon on trial size, despite my citing the policy (which was in the car, and my hubby would have gotten, but it was pouring rain and the kids were getting tired). She informed me Walmart was not ALLOWED to give overage…I politely said that was not the policyk but asked for the items to be removed…at which point they stood there and stared. Another 5 minutes passed before it was realized they were in a bag in front of them (and not my cart). Now I’ve been in line over 45 minutes and I realize I left my wallet in the car. My husband has my daughter run over the debit card..and I complete my transaction. I realize I don’t have my hubby’s pin # so run it as credit. Does she check the debit card to see it is in a man’s name? No, just asks me to sign it. I’d be more worried about card theft (by using a card with someone else’s name) than a bad $3 coupon…but would appreciate your thoughts. I’m so upset I’ve been considering talking to corporate customer service…I’ve never heard anything so ludicrous, and am pondering using Target exclusively for the rest of my holiday shopping. Your calming thoughts? Lol
Paul says
I can totally see the frustration that you experienced. I will say that most of what you outlined is way over the top, but Walmart is getting HAMMERED on fraudulent coupons. The tide coupon issue is one that has been well documented on this site. Tide has stated that the store reserves the right to refuse that coupon based on the fact that Tide doesn’t distribute that product itself. I agree it is funny how they will labor over each coupon but not even glance at the credit card being used. Hang in there, we are making progress!
Trish says
My Wal-Mart doesn’t allow me to use the Tide coupons on trial sizes either…BUT they allow me to use toothpaste coupons on trial sizes (like the Aquafresh ones). It didn’t make any sense to me, but I didn’t want to argue. The cashier I had was trying not to even let me use regular coupons on regular sized items from my Sunday coupons. I realize they are getting hit with copies coupons, and it’s said because everyone suffers.
meg says
yes contact customer service!! They gladly give out $20 gift cards to unhappy customers. and so sorry for ur troubles!

Thanks for your comments Paul. I personally think you need to recommend a ‘couponer’ line to Walmart..for those of us using 20+ coupons on purchases. I wouldn’t mind waiting for a more emphatetic cashier. I never profiled before, but I’m definitely looking for a young male in the shopping line next time! lol
Amber R. says
I agree a couponer line would be awesome at walmart! Kinda like the 10 items or less line, but for couponers. Have a cashier who actually knows what he/she is doing and knows the policy. We should write corporate to suggest this!
Christy Lee says
That would be fantastic! The people in the line behind you would be interested in what you were doing instead of getting grumpy for having to wait!!

Paul I had a similar experience in my local Walmart, and the cashier was a young guy. To tell you the truth my local walmart is the less friendly coupon place in the world, every single time they seem to have problems with my coupons, last time I had a coupon for a free box of mashed potatoes that I clipped from an all you magazine they almost did not accept it. I love your site and get great deals thanks to you but I personally much rather use coupons at Target they are much more friendly and I hardly ever have any problems with them.
LORRAINE CRUSE says
Carmen sounds like Walmart needs to revisit their customer service of their cashiers. I’ve written a letter to corporate voicing my concerns, will keep you posted with their reply. Happy couponing to all…if you find a good cashier who gets to know you and doesn’t mind scanning coupons, then treat them like gold (I do to my CVS cashier…slipping her coupons for freebies she comments on and she’s always friendly to me!)

To Lorraine
Finding a coupon friendly cashier is an awesome find. I have one at my local CVS. I rave all the time to the CVS customer care phone number. The cashier even mentioned she thought it was me because her supervisor showed her the positive reviews from corporate.
To everyone- I guess my long winded explanation is if you take the time to complain…..please take the time to compliment to upper management. The cashier standing on their feet all day appreciates the positive feedback 🙂

I have to say that i am lucky enough to have a coupon friendly walmart and it has 5 coupon friendly cashiers!! I have only had to call corporate once when they tried to accuse me of coupon fraud when the 5/5 kraft products coupon came out last year. After a quick call to corporate and a scolding from their district manager i have not had an issue since.
Funny thing about the 5/5 kraft ip coupon i had the same coupon was a peelie on some of their kraft cheese products in their store!!!

I always look for a younger cashier for this reason the older ones always seem like it is too much trouble to price match and scan coupons. I have been given a hard time useing coupons before. It is very frustrating, especially because I always have my 5 kids with me and the are all tired and ready to go. It wouldn’t hurt to call corporate so they can try to resolve the issue.

Paul,
Last week I had a horrible experience at Wal-Mart. I will try to make this short. I’m in line with a large amount of items and coupons (had not been in a week or 2 b/c of Christmas!). She accepted 2 coupons that were for .50 and 1.00 but said the items did not match what was purchased. Because my savings was a large number they needed a manager’s approval. She came over and refused to approve it. She then proceeded to tell the cashier: I told you not to take all these coupons. I politely asked which ones she was not to take and she told me it was the $3.00 off KY and others. They then called another manager. She came over and asked why she accepted all these coupons. She said she looked at all the items and they were there but a couple of the coupons rang up as a no match. Well, we did not remember which items it was and on the receipt it simply said “vendor coupon”. This has been about a 30 to 40 minute trip in line thus far. The first manager still refuses to accept it and then VOIDS the entire transaction and tells the cashier to scan it all again and rescan the coupons!!!! You got it! Empty cart of each wal mart bag for poor cashier to ring up again….AND scan every coupon again. (I am being nice to cashier but not so nice to managers at this time….I told them they had to take bags out of cart and out of bags because I had already done it once). This is what gets me…it was 2 of the newspaper coupons…not the ones from online…1.50 worth of coupons for over an hour of check out time. This part made me laugh out loud at the manager: The 50 cent coupon was for disinfecting wipes…she asked for a magnifying glass to see if she could read the count on the container on the coupon!! She said maybe I needed a different count than 35 to make the coupon work!!!! I am not joking! I will mention I did not have 1 price match in this visit. The last time I did price matches was TERRIBLE! I am really questioning whether using WalMart in Houston is really worth all of this.
Thanks for all you do.
Paul says
Which Walmart is this?
Whitney says
A new one on Silber right off of I-10.
Paul says
I will try to make it down there next week.
Whitney says
I also want to add that on one visit they did not scan a $5.00 coupon I had and when I returned to tell them they told me it was my responsibility to watch the cashiers and make sure they scanned all the coupons. They could not help me because that cashier could have pocketed it herself and used it later. I asked them if they hire people who are dishonest and steal from their customers and she just said I needed to watch them! HA!
heather says
what zipcode did you use for the gummy bears?
Paul says
It looks like the print is out. it does come back fairly often
Bethany says
I have to say that I never post comments even though I read a ton of them. However I have to this time. I have had bad experiences with coupons everywhere EXCEPT CVS. They are always very nice, they never mind multiple transactions or even multiple cards. I try to buy as much as I can from them even if they are a few cents more than Walgreens or Walmart just for the ease of shopping. 😉
Paul says
I would agree if it were only a few cents. it is on the whole way more than that. I do shop at CVS also for some of the ECB rolling deals, it has just been my experience that in the long haul the saving at Walmart are significant. I think the culture is changing for the better and is just going to take some time.
Whitney says
The Walmart on 290 in Houston had their price up to 1.08 last week. Anyone else’s Walmart increased the price of their gummies????
ToriH. says
Same here in NC. =(

tyler, tx has raised theirs also.

Kristina says
For some strange reason, these gummy bear coupons would not print for me. All the others did, just not these 🙁
Shawn says
I am not finding the Haribo coupon under 12345…so bummed cuz my family really likes these 🙁
Kristina says
I live in Dickinson, Texas (Galveston County) and Wal-mart sucks! All they do is give me is hell, with my Q’s! I have 2 Wal-marts, within 5 miles of each other, and neither one of them are Q friendly or price match friendly! I love Wal-mart because of the overage; however, I ALWAYS have hell with the cashiers! They don’t know their Q policy nor do they care about customer service!
Scott says
Dear Kristina,
Always make sure to print out the coupon policy and bring it with you, and don’t be afraid to ask to speak with a supervisor and/or a manager. If they still give you issues, don’t feel bad about contacting costumer service — but if you find a good cashier that is helpful and does their job, still contact costumer service to give them a good review of the person.
r.p. says
not re-set.
Judy says
Not a reset for me :0(
Tracey Taylor says
my walmart here in wv also raised them to $1.08 a pack.
RuthAnn Alston says
Nope, not a full reset cuz I once again am not getting it. It’s been since Dec since I was able to print one and I know they’ve been out again twice that I haven’t been able to get one.
My walmart in Leesville, Louisiana has also gone up on the price to 1.08 but the walmart in Center, Tx is still at 97 cents.
naomi says
