Hi! This is Tiffany, I just posted this deal over on my site, BUT it is a price match deal you can do because they LIST the $1.99 price!!
This week at Walgreens the Scotch Magic Tape is on sale Buy 1 Get 2 free. If you go to Scotch and sign up for their newsletter, they will instantly email coupon for $1.00 off.
** Deal Idea**
Buy 3 Scotch Tape Rolls $1.99 w/in-ad coupon (Limit 3)
Use 2 of the $1 off printable from the email.
Total: Free!
** You will only have trouble is they will not let you price match and use a coupon… I know some are having trouble with that. Paul has called each week and was told that there is nothing that says you can’t. So I guess it will be up to your individual stores managers. Also…. I am thinking you can use 1 of the $1 coupons, so your total might be $.99.
I had trouble with this because my Walmart only carries Scotch Magic tape in a slightly different (colored) container, which has a different manufacturer code on the UPC than the coupon does. So, the coupon beeps and then you get some clueless CSM telling you that you can’t use a coupon with a price match. That’s what happened to me anyway.
Awesome! Thanks Tiffany!
I got 7 of these at walmart in the colored container your talking about…they were priced at 1.22 and i used the 1.00 off coupon and paid 1.50 for 7 rolls.
I just tried buying the tape @ Walmart today with the $1.00 Scotch tape coupon and the coupons wouldn’t scan for some reason. I usually never have a problem with any coupons but I did with this pdf coupon, why I don’t know???
I had the EXACT same problem as Drew. Price matched the tape, then the coupon beeped and wouldn’t take. The cashier and CSM were very rude and said I couldn’t use a coupon on a price match. I explained that wasn’t in their policy. They didn’t care. There were only two lanes open in the whole store (at 6pm on a Tuesday) and I had at least 5 people behind me, so I left without the tape instead of arguing.
I did email the store to ask what the policy is, and what should’ve happened. The manager called me back today and aplogized. She said they’ve gone over this a dozen times with the cashiers and CSMs, and YES you can use a coupon with a price match.
At our Staples they are .99 cents this week, making them free with price match and coupon.
I’ve had a great experience with this deal. They took my Walgreen coupon and entered it as a price match. ($1.99 divided by 3 = $.67 each) So, he keyed them in at $.67 each. I purchased 12. Then, I used 12 $1 off coupons that I found at http://www.3m.com/brands/scotch/promos/welcomecoupon.pdf . This ended up being a moneymaker for me and they applied $3.96 toward the rest of my purchase. In the end, I got free tape and an overage. I have to say that I was thrilled!
I also was able to get a total of 22 of these between several shopping trips this week (price matched at $.66 each because that’s the way my Walmart cashier said to do it), using a $1 off coupon for each, making it a great money maker! The coupons wouldn’t scan at either store I visited, but the cashiers just entered them manually as a “Vendor Coupon.”
Hi Paul,
I have called and spoke with Walmart Customer Service regarding price matching and using coupons. What I was told is that it is NOT up to the individual store managers. The Store’s ARE SUPPOSSED TO ACCEPT MANUFACTUR’S COUPON’S AFTER THE PRICE MATCH, per Corporate policy. I mentioned that this part of the policy is not addressed in either the coupon nor the price matching policy. The Customer Service Rep, stated that it is available to all the store manager’s and the cashiers should be trained accordingly- as it is available in their internal training resources. So if anyone has a problem with price matching AND using MQ’s with a price match, customer service should be contacted. I hope this helps anyone experiencing these training issues.
I’m glad that everyone has had success price matching this–but, at our WAGS you have to make a purchase to get the 1.99 price for all three–meaning, if you buy one, it costs 1.99, and it remains the same for the other two. The price matching policy specifically states that you can’t price match anything that requires a purchase. In some states, the store is required to keep the same price for the first item as for the second in B1G1 sales. The Wal-Marts in those states should price match without question. However, if I were to be asked to do it, I wouldn’t have done it here in MO. So I wish you wouldn’t state that this is a price match deal.
I just finally got into the new price matching policy on corporate. I was wrong. B1G1 sales are allowed when a price is listed. And, they have a new printable policy that is beautiful!
This tape is .97c in my walmart
